INJECTION

They say that the dumb questions are the one's we don't ask but I must ask this one...also please realize that this is a serious question....
Here goes:
Does anyone know what would happen if one main lines the injection?   My sick thinking tell's me that when I take my injections according to instructions...I am comparing it like a skin pop... but if I should take the injection directly into a vein (main line) then the meds would go more directly into my bloodstream and go directly to my liver....
I am not losing my mind....and I am not trying to get creative...I was just wondering...
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...
Thank you... Edgar

Edgar...hmmmm ok Edgar  My we are getting very creative in our thinking and what week are you?  haha Because I'm afraid this drug might have you hallucinating here and you forgot what you were doing.  First of all...Not Good Idea.  This is a drug to kill the virus in our Blood.  I'm not even actually sure if this is good to go straight to the liver. Please don't do this. There is probably definitely a better answer out there then mine but the drug companies spent alot of money on research and if we needed to "mainline" that would be recommended.

I've heard of some patients getting an IV drip of interferon but have never heard of us doing it ourselves. I wouldn't try it.

Take it easy,

Scott

PS - We want this stuff ABSORBED by the whole body so it can kill the virus in every nook and cranny. It would seem to me that injecting it directly into a vein would defeat that purpose.

Just my non-medical 2 cents.

This is my second time around...first time around I was on rebotron 3/shots a week for 7 months...Non-Responder...genotype 1b ...now on peg/copegus...8th week...

I wonder what's going to happen to my sick thinking after a few more weeks?

Revenire.... thank you ...and don't worry ...I won't try it...

I think I will try to utilize my creativity in some other area...lol

Continued success to all....Edgar

Oh my. I am so glad you are not going to do this.  I am not sure what would happen but I bet it would be very bad.

Don't ever think you're questions are dumb...ask all the questions you want!!!! I hope this go-round is good for you. I did 48/48 geno 1a. I finished on Nov 6th. I'm here ta tell ya I had a horrible time on tx. At times I really thought I'd lose my mind!!! That devil spirit of suicide crossed my mind many times, but I believe in God and would run to my Bible and pray and pray. I am still having a time w/ depression. You hang in there and we are all with you. Keep sticking that nasty ole' dragon, but inject like you were told. My prayers will be with you and I mean that with all my heart. I couldn't have made it w/o this forum..and God. God be with you, Cindee

Here's the deal:  You inject it subcutaneously so that you have a constant amount of the med being absorbed over a period of time into your system.  Therefore, if you inject once a week, then it should take the entire week for the entire amount of the drug to be absorbed and it is a constant amount for constant coverage.  Think of it as an 8 hour time released pain reliever.  If you mainlined a time release, sure, you are gonna feel a lot better real quick for about 10 minutes.  Then the benefits of the drug is all gone and chances are, your headache will be back within an hour.  Same with the once a week injection.  There is a a slow absorbtion so that you have constant coverage for the whole week.

That was definitely a creative thought - just not a good idea.  Stick with the old fashioned subcutaneous way kiddo and I'll bet we will be hearing good news from you soon!

This is just a GUESS, I'm not a medical person at all. I would GUESS you wouldn't do any permanent harm (might make ou feel bad though) but you would be wasting a lot of the shot so you would have the opposite effect you were wanting. I tried to get "creative" too ,but by upping my meds on my own. Now I think the best way is to tell your doc you want to be very aggresive (aggressive) and if he won't find one who will. I told my doc after tx about it and he would have went along with closer monitoring, but I didn't give him the opportunity because I didn't tell him. Good luck.

It states plainly on the meds that if you draw blood once you inject into the skin, throw away and do a new injection; do not proceed.

Mhhhh, wonder why?
