My doc still uses the word cure, he's an old-fashioned type I guess.

Right now,,,the drs are not saying cure but there is a treatment and depending on geno type,,,,You have a certain per cent of clearing the virus.  After clearing the virus,,,you are considered SVR...  Some seem to think that maybe virus is in remission and others are stating that the virus won't come back unless you are reinfected...

if you think about it, you are cured of hepatitis, since the word means inflammation of the liver and that is supposedly gone when the virus is no longer attacking those cells, been cured of hepatitis is not an inaccurate statement. If the word cured is used to mean the permanent viral erradication, not just hepatitis, then I guess there could be some disagreement.  I believe that after a year of undetected viral load we can consider it a cure in both meanings.

Feeling excellent.  I dumped the doc that was not patient friendly, along with the huge clinic that couldn't seem to handle any simple request.  Went with a doc who was recommended by some people from this forum who live in Central FL.  Small clinic, patient friendly, 1/3 of the case load is hepC patients.  My questions and requests were met with the right answers and cooperation.  Begin treating in 3 wks.  I also finally told my children, something that has been weighing me down for years.  They are coping fine and going to test.

Just a quick note to let you know that I'm thinking about you.  Didn't you start treatment this week?  If so, I hope you're doing okay. Please update us when you get a chance.

Take care,
Susan

Hey Susan;
          Thanks for thinking of me! I do my first shot on Tuesday with the nurse. I am actaully looking forward to just getting that first shot over with. My husband took the day off and will be with me all day.

BTW > my insuarnce approved both the Peg & pills for a $20 co-pay for each script. How cool is that? Let me know how it goes with Dr. Cecil. OK? I'll keep you posted on my first shot.

Take Care, Sue

Hi Sue!

So Tuesday's the big day, huh?  I think it's terrific that your husband is taking the day off to be with you.  That kind of loving support will make a huge difference.

Wow...a $20 co-pay for such pricey drugs.  You must have really good coverage.  That's just one less thing to worry about.  Well, it sounds like all systems are go -- including your positive attitude.  I have a feeling that you're going to be one of the lucky ones who breezes through this without major difficulties.

I'll be thinking of you on Tuesday.  Best wishes for a smooth launch into treatment.

Sending you (and your hubby) a.... (((BIG HUG)))

Susan

Ah geez...talk about bad timing!  I've heard that most people on treatment never get colds or the flu.  I guess you wanted to sneak one more in before getting started.  Oh well, in the big scheme of things, waiting a few more days isn't the end of the world.  But I know it's hard when you've psyched yourself up and you're ready to go.  Hang in there and please keep us posted.

Hi Susan;
          Thanks for the big hugs and support. I am hoping I will get through with no major complications too. As I mentioned I am supposed to do the first shot on Tuesday. But I woke up this mornning with a sore throat, along with some phlegm. Not good. I don't have a fever, but definately coming down with something.

The Pegasus nurse I called said not to begin the shots until I am feeling better. I also called my doctors' office and left a message to have to nurse call me back. I am guessing she will say the same thing. So, again I am playing the waiting game. It's always something. I'll keep you posted. Sue

Hi Susan;
        Yes, bad timing. My nurse said this will probably be the last cold I get until the end of tx. I guess most people don't get the traditional colds & flus on tx, just all the other fun stuff. Ha! I'll keep you posted. Sue
