I got the call last night from my GI.  The test came back undetectable!  I WAS a 2a, 24/24 pegasys/riba.  I didn't get to speak to him and didn't even listen to my voice mail until today.  He's on there saying NO HEPC detected, finish up the last injection and seven days of Riba and get a blood test next week because of low potassium (also said to eat citrus, tomatos and banannas).  YEAH!!!!  I'm really happy to be done and so thankful to everyone here.  You've all been wonderful and helpful.  Now I can try to forget about this for a while and wait for October to get here for my 6 month test.  Indy,  I'll be looking forward to the cow tippin! Think I'll start planning a Dragon BBQ!  Thanks, caruu

I am so very happy for you!  Reminds me of that song by Katrina and the Waves, "I'm Walkin'on Sunshine, Oh Oh, I'm Walking on Sunshine, oh oh, AND DON'T IT FEEL GOOD!"  Congratulations on a battle well fought and endured!

Excellent my friend,
This is wonderful. I know you are feeling great now.
Don't do like me you need to keep drinking the water still. It is slow to recover and the water has helped my headaches. I won't find out if I'm still clear for another 2 months or so. Must have my gall blader removed next. I go to PCP on tuesday to do liver panels and cbc and TSH to see if I'm getting better or not. I do have energy so I think so. As far as the dragon I sure hope its dead.

Congratulations! It always helps to hear of someone getting through this. I started right around the same time as you but have 25 more weeks to go. Would have been 24 but had to skip last weeks shot because of a nasty infection in my knee. How bad is it to miss one shot in the middle of treatment? Also having Sciatica type pain from hip and down the leg. Had this once before almost exactly a year ago way before treatment began. Has anyone had any side affect like that from treatment? Thanks for any info.

I had Sciatica in the past before tx, so I assumed my severe pain following tx was the same.  After 2 mo and 5 specialists, we nailed it down to cryoglobulinemic vasculitis which caused peripheral neuropathy.  This autoimmune response to the HCV was something I didn't know I had until the interferon exacerbated it.  Although it effects 5% of us with chronic HCV, it is not routinely screened for.  The test for it is called a Cryocrit.  The neuropathy it caused was confirmed through an EMG with nerve conduction studies.  I was able to get a cutting-edge tx for the cryo called Rituxan (Rituximab), which is only used by Hematologists/Oncologists, with good results.  The nerve damage has improved but may take up to 2 yrs to fully recover, if I do fully recover.

I'm still on Pegasys (wk 62), even though it exacerbated the cryo in the beginning, because I was age 53, GT 1b, and stage 3 with some bridging fibrosis.

I sure hope you don't have the cryo/peripheral neuropathy, but it's worth getting the cryocrit and having a neurologist do an EMG with nerve conduction studies.  I wish you the best,  Dave

I haven't read any information on post treatment.  I have had no detectable viral load at last test.  I don't remember how often I was supposed to get checked.  I also want to know can I get blood work done and it not show up?  My doc wants to see me before he'll order the testing and I don't want to make three trips and pay 2 office calls when one should do.

Drink 8 glasses of water a day. You can get a standing order for 3 months, 6 mos. and 12 mos. All I have to do is call my doctor's office and the nurse mails me the lab form. Congrats. on being UND. If you can get a massage that would help and also saunas or steam baths to get the toxins out.
