I'm Doing that Dance I've Heard So Much About......

by DownThisRoad, Oct 14, 2003 12:00AM
Yesterday was a good, good day.  Today is even better.

Dr. called yesterday late afternoon and announced my results for my 24 week pcr.  Undetectable measures down to 50 and I'm below 50.  My liver enzymes are way back in the normal range and all other test numbers are stable. I still need to do the Procrit weekly to keep up my rbc in a close to normal range. My wbc is falling, we'll keep a close eye on that.

You don't know how many times I thought about what this feeling would be to type this out to everyone on this forum and what the feeling would be to get this wonderful news.

After the call, I cried, I danced and I cried some more, I danced and I cried.  Oh did I ever sleep well last night.  What a relief to know that the meds are working.  I really do have a chance to kick out and keep this virus out of my system.

I am a 1a genotype so moving forward with another 24 weeks of meds.  My doctor has already talked to me about doing more than 48 weeks and possibly extending my treatment 6 weeks at a time, striving towards 54 weeks.  We aren't going to think about the extra time right now, I'm just going to move forward and get closer to the end, day by day.

Okay, so here's my real question.  Do I need to get anything special in order to BBQ this dragon or do I just throw him on the grill and watch him scream?

Put in your earplugs folks, this one is going to throw a real fit!!

That is such wonderful news.  I am so happy for you and me too.  It gives me hope.  I have been wondering, because I am a 1a also, if this is worth it.  I have been thinking all the "what if's".  You know what I mean, I'm sure.

Thanks so much for sharing your good news and I look forward to the day that I can share my own good news.  Congratulations!!

Wowweee! This is great.  I remember when I finally got the 24 week results - mine were inexcusably delayed for about 24 days!
I had to get it in writing, and felt like my face was frozen, didn't react strongly at the doc's office.  When I got into my car, I started to weep uncontrollably.  I'm sure it was 10-15 minutes before I could start thinking about driving home, but then it was with hope and open vistas in the future.  Congratulations!

I told you I'd root for you and it must have helped! Congratulations! What a feeling huh? Should make the tx more bearable now. Not that you will feel great physically all the time, but the mental anguish has been lifted. Keep going as you are and you're out of the woods!

Great News!   Keep it going.....You have a smart Dr. if he is thinking of having you go longer.....do all you can to keep the virals load down as long as you can handle it.  I relapsed after 48wks...  I just met with a very respected research guy and he said since I was an EVR I should consider tx again and for a longer time. He has had very good success rates with geno 1's with extended tx - even if they just go to maintenance level after 48/54 weeks. He has some folks on just Peg after initial tx period.... He says tx for as long as you can if you are a Geno 1 and you have a better shot at nuking the dragon!

Best of luck !

Yeah tosser great news keep on dancin. I kind of postponed my 12 wk vl test. I think I was still high on the last one being a 2.5 log drop in 8 wks so I did not want to come down. Today I said it's time to face the music so I called the Dr and he said ok, it's going on 15 wks so I will let you guys know in a couple of weeks where I'm at.

GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU

Welcome new people we have a great spirit here so let's keep on truckin'
