In remission?

I was diagnosed on 1999. I went on interferon from 1999-2000. I instantly had good results and was told I'm in "remission". That was 11 yrs. ago, and now my Hep C Virus Ab came back 11.0. Does anyone know if that could mean the virus is back?? I can't get in to see a liver Dr. for onver a month. Anyone know if this # is high?

Hep C AB reactive means that you have the antibody to Hep C.  Assuming you had a sustained virological response after completion of treatment (RNA PCR negative -  no HCV RNA detected after 1 year) you do not have hepc any longer but you will always test positive for antibodies just as someone who had chicken pox will always have the antibody in their blood.  Remission is not a word generally used in the HCV community.  If the patient is successfully treated it is referred to as SVR which means cured.

11.0 is the antibody test, if you had the virus and cleared you will still test positive for the antibodies forever,  you need to have a PCR test to see if the virus has made a comeback or not
