Wow, lots of good feedback. Thanks!
My plan was ask for the magic mouthwash when I see my doc on Monday. My plan was to mention how I heard about it on this forum, but after reading suezeeque's comment I think I'll go with NYgirl suggestion. Thanks for the 411.
My husband wears contacts so I'll be borrowing one of his saline solutions. That makes total sense that it could help relieve some of the dryness.
Thanks again all. I'm lovin this forum. Wish I would have know about it the first time I was on treatment 5 yrs ago.
Welcome to the forum, you are in the right place to ask any hep c and treatment related questions, lots of very knowledgable and treatment savy people here. Good luck to you in your up coming treatment.
"You don't swallow that stuff, do you?"
"I received the magic mouthwash yesterday and it is meant for to wash the mouth and if any Esophical infection can be swallowed for that purpose only".
Yes i do swallow a small amount everytime I use it, cleared it right up and has keep it gone, It was almost to the point I couldn't swallow at all when I first started using.
why not say you learned of it from a friend who had also done treatment...technically it's true :)
The tongue ulcers and the white tongue are two different things though usually the thrush is one thing and the ulcers well ......... I had them for 69 weeks or so they went away as soon as the IFN was out of my body (10 days - 2 weeks).
Pretty sure they prescribe nystatin for the thrush.
How does "magic mouthwash" help the throat? I'm assuming you all mean esophagus? You don't swallow that stuff, do you?
I have an incredibly sore tongue. I imagine a mouthwash might help that or the sores/cancers common to SOC therapy... I spoke with my hepatologist about my tongue last week since it had started to turn white... He just swabbed it to send to the lab to see if it was anything to be concerned about.
No mention of "magic mouthwash" from him, though.
I'm really reluctant to say "I heard about this online" because some doctors seem to be quite resistant to any suggestion made when a person says that.... So I'm living with my sore tongue for the time being.
hello i am the new guy, and just wanted to say hello to everyone. thanks all for being here i will be needing all kinds of help and now i have found some friends. i will be starting my treatment today with victrellis/incivek/pegasys all at once, not really sure how scared i am buit i am believe that. thanks again
FYI - the "magic mouthwash' is a concoction put together by your friendly neighbourhood or hospital pharmacy with several ingredients used to soothe sore throats. We made alot of it for radiotherapy cancer patients and bone marrow transplant patients at the cancer agency where I used to work.
On week 8 of triple tx w/ Inc. Developed Riba cough 2 weeks ago and it is deep and when I cough makes my whole throat hurt to the point of sometimes bleeding. Also, Started using saline solution to keep my dry sinus' moisturized and the crap that started coming out was pretty colorful. I think I've had alot of drainage as well running down the back of my sinus' and throat which hasn't helped. However, I started using the saline solution about 5 times a day to keep everything moist and it has helped. Also, using benetine for dry mouth and that has helped too. Have heard the Magic mouthwash is miracle stuff ! Good Luck :)
For me the sore throat started out mild at about week 5 but progressed to fairly severe by week 9, got the magic mouth wash and just started week 11 yesterday, sore throat was cleared up pretty quickly by the magic mouth wash.
Thank you all for sharing. Starshine1ca I have had pretty much the same experience where I could barely swallow then it subsides but for me, it has returned over and over. Hopefully it will clear in a few weeks like others have experienced. I see my doctor again Monday so I'll have to ask him about the magic mouthwash. That sounds promising.
The pain in my hips has followed that same pattern from severe then easing up and back to severe again. It's kind of comforting to hear others are experiencing similar sx. You never want to be the only case of something so thank you all for your input.
This is my second time on treatment. Five years ago I did the dual threrapy SOC and relapsed. My throat was a little dry and scratchy then, but not to the degree I am experiencing now. I guess it's the Incivek causing the tipping point and making it more severe. Not that the INF and RIB SOC is a walk in the park by any means, but I can't wait to just be on those two drugs alone.
Thanks again,
Gizmo
Thank you sooo much, hrsepwrguy
That is the actual name of the product
I am on week 4 and last Monday I came home from shopping and all of a sudden I got this horrible pain in my throat...but strangely only on the right side...it continued through the day and night...I was having trouble swallowing water....got me quite afraid, I must say...but the next day, it seemed to subside....thank goodness..nooo idea what that was all about!
hrsepwrguy, just wondering if that is the actual name of the mouthwash or a description? *s* I would like to ask my specialist for a prescription when I see him next Tuesday...just in case, this happens again.
Sure hope you get some relief soon, Gizmo103!
Sincerely, Starshine1ca
You should try the magic mouth wash for your sore throat
"I received the magic mouthwash yesterday and it is meant for to wash the mouth and if any Esophical infection can be swallowed for that purpose only".
That was sent to me by cliff1961 after I inquired about using magic mouth wash for sore throat, mine was never bleeding but it has cleared it up. You will have to ask your doc to be sure and it is only available by RX
Gizmo,
I don't have the exact throat issue, but mine was hurting and raw...it is better now, but I am having the hip pain...it is horrible. I am only on Peg/RIBA right now....so not sure of the culprit.
Good luck...
Also I have stabbing pain in my hips, which is only relieved by taking advil. My white blood cells are low at 2.4.
