I hope you know that FDA approved daily intake of Vit E is 22 UI. I never heard of dosage of Vit E being higher than 800 UI.
I think this is the case when MORE doesn't necessary mean BETTER!
Please talk to your Dr.

I have my husband taking the following:
Silybi Phytosome
Alpha Lipoic
Selenium
I also have him on Vitamin B Complex (w/o Iron). He takes 1200 units of Tocopherol Vitamin E. He takes a larger amount than most because he is at stage 3 fibrosis.
In the book The Hepatitis C Handbook there is some good information about Vitamin C. Following are some excerpts from his book.

"There is clear evidence that Vitamin C prevents molecular changes that are associated with the development of cirrhosis". Also, a recent study or HCV patients undergoing Interferon therapy "clearly established that Lver enzymes were significantly improved by concurrent supplementation. I get all of my husbands supplements from this website here.

I hope this helps.

I've been taking C, E and B Complex in addition to Centrum Silver however my doctor made a comment yesterday that I may want to stop the Vitamin C - she indicated that C helps absorb Iron and the virus seems to feed off the iron. I'm not sure where I stand with this information but thought I would pass it along.

I have been on a pretty high dose of several antioxidants-- working with an MD and PhD nutritionist... my viral load has dropped dramatically pre-tx and my liver panel values are great. Are you taking selenium too? All antioxidants have an antiviral effect. do a search on alpha lipoic acid clinical trials and the findings for HIV patients are astonishing. Could have some pos. implications for HCV as well

I'm taking multivitamins (w/o FeO2) and Vit E (400UI). As far as I know Vitamins C and B are not accumulated in the body, whereas Vit A & E are stored in liver. Vit E is a powerful biological antioxidant and it protects our cells against the effects of free radicals.
Hope it helps.

My doc went to a conference couple weeks ago and came back and told me to start taking a multivitamin and 800 IU's of vitamin E. They now believe these two things contribute to keeping our numbers in the right range. I was already taking the multivitamin but now also take the vitamin E. I get labwork done again in 2 wks so we'll see if my numbers change any or get any better.
Hope this helps.
