Information on the hepatitis c muticenter trials?

I.ve worked in two areas of research for NIH, and SPNS. so I know a little about the process of clinical trials, and the process of assessing patients that meet criteria to be accepted. I have a patient who has bee through the traditional therapy of Ribovirin and Pegasys, and was not able to complete the entire 26 week proably 22 or 23 weeks. At any rate he did have possitive viral load after a time after treatment. My question is, if he is a healthy person with no other chronic illnesses other than the hepatits c would that be a consideration for trials? Second question is are they at multicenter trials yet? Third question is the sites where they are being conducted? Fourth
what is the duration of the course of treatment? Last, when will the drug be available to the public? I saw a mention of the success of your drug on Fox Business today. Oh, one more question what if any side effects are associated
with treatment?
I look forward to your reply,
Thank you,
Charlotte Smith RN

If you are familiar with the clinical trial process you know that every trial has inclusion and exclusion criteria, which may change during the trial. Your patient may also be excluded based on a temporary condition and meet the inclusion criteria at a later time. Unfortunately, the info posted on the clinical trials website is not all inclusive, so you would have to discuss your patient with the site trial coordinator to get more details.

the best source for clinical trials info is http://clinicaltrials.gov/  there is a box on that page that allows you to enter info about locations and contacts for trials.  also you can enter the drug names.  since i live in colorado i entered colorado and hepatitis c and i found a trial.  i am experiencing cirrhosis and completed the trial about 12 weeks ago.   perhaps the most exciting new drug isSofosbuvir (GS-7977).  i was told at my last clinic visit that the drug would be available for prescription in about 18month. seems optimistic.  can't help with the side effects of this drug. member here say the effects are mild.
