Having issues with serious fatigue. I have 3 children (ages 7,4 and 6 months) and I am a full time student as well as a homeschooling mother. Entered into treatment 3 weeks ago (Pegintron/Ribovirin) and while my doctor warned me that I should expect this reaction, I can not simply lay around all day. I was told to exercise lightly, I a just a bit confused as to what "lightly" is. Can I do crunches, light weight lifting, etc. I appreciate any advise.
I googled some weeks ago injection sites and tips on treating them. It seems warming the area with a warm plaster from the chemist for upto 2 hours before injecting does wonders.
Cases suggest this prevent injury, swelling and often redness or blotchiness. should there be swelling or anything after injecting place something cool on the area to help the swelling.
after- between and keep the skin lotioned with aloe vera, camilla or other creams which help with skin troubles.
My personal experience- been able without pain or marking the last 3 weeks to inject on the same side of the stomach- which means the other side where i had circles has gone and the side where i am injecting has not swollen, bruised and is not red.
Maybe luck or maybe application of heat does work1
Mine still show after 5 weeks sometimes. Barely visible, but still there. I asked study coordinator about it because the literature says a week. She said many of her other patients said theirs last a long time, too. So, it's nothing to be alarmed about. Sometimes the site may itch, too, a few days afterward.
the red patch from one week helped remind me which side to inject the following week. aloe vera gel helped with itchiness
Hi There: Mine stays red and swollen for at least a week. Change sides for every injection. I'm also fair skinned, don't know if that makes a difference.
It seems to be a normal sx. of the injections, don't worry.
Keep Smiling :-) Lynne
Thanks thanks thanks....maybe i will try the smiley face thing hahahhahhahahhahah
There are a lot of target areas from which to choose for self injection (thighs, ab area etc). If you have someone to inject you, there are even more choices. Both Pegasys and Pegintron web sites have diagrams of places. Bruising is not unusual.
Good input thus far. I go to my belly on either side of my navel. One side one week the other side the next. It gets red, feels deeply bruised, itches like crazy sometimes and doesn't seem to go away. It is a normal thing.

Some of my stomach sites stay red for awhile, but don't hurt or itch if I keep them well lotioned. I gave up on injecting in my legs...it hurts like the dickens, gets black and blue and is leaving me with many broken capillaries that don't seem to go away. It seems the farther I am along in tx, the less problems I have with them though......

The whole area of my stomach near all my injections sites stay red & itchy, not just the actual injection site.
Some of mine fade immediately, some of mine seem to last forever. Sometimes they itch, sometimes they don't.
Early on I decided to turn them into treatment tatoos. First a smiley face, then a peace sign.
In the end, they both just looked like a big glob of splotches. Oh, well...it was worth a try.
I'm very fair skinned so my injections sites would stay red up to a month. As time went on it didn't last as long. At the end there were no marks.
Best wishes
Wilful
This is normal and sometimes they will turn black and blue. Make sure to change your injection site weekly.
