Insomnia

Hey day 16 on the triple treatment(inc, rib, and shots +hiv meds so have to take extra incevek) So far everything is good no real side effects other than insomnia but not sure if thats from the treatment or not since i had some trouble before that.  There is 1 thing I have noticed but not read about but since starting I get these zaps or very mild shock like feelings from head down though arms to my fingers. I noticed today it has something to do with whenever i move my eyes or shot them. Has anyone else had this happen? My dr said it could be from hiv meds and the incevek together but not to worry unless it happens alot.

But are over the conter sleeping pills ok for the insomnia? 2 hrs of sleep a night is getting old. But the odd thing is im not all that tired during the day.

I didn't have the zapping side efect, but Ihave always had insomnia...before treatment, during, and now, post Tx, worse then ever.
But like you, I'm not that tired during the day.
What I do, is go to bed at 11 pm, and when I cant sleep, I may get up and eat a banana, but then I force myself back into bed, no lights on, no t.v, and just lie there...it doesn't bother me that much, not as much as taking a sleeping pill would!
I think it is important for our bodies to be
horizontal for a 7 hr period, so I stay in bed until 6 am.
Since fatigue sets in, late afternoon ( I think I actually sleep from about midnight to 3 am, and then another hour, from 5 am to 6 am), I try to do most of my chores in the early morning.

My husband took Ambien to help with sleep.during treatment. The jolts might be a type of neuropathy that interferon can cause, but I would suggest asking your doctor. My husband had twinges, zings, and twitches that tended to come and go.

Melatonin is a natural supplement that may help.  Take 1 about a half hour before bed.  It may help.  It's always best to ask your doctor but I would guess it is not a problem.

I was having trouble before tx and then more during.  Melatonin helped.  Post tx, I sleep great now.  Hope it's the same for you.
