Is 800 mg of riba enough ?

I'm 39,HCV genotype-3 with a viral load of 104500,into 4th week of treatment.Doc has told me to take 2 tab in the morning and 2 at night.What i have read is that the idle dose is 1200 mg daily.Just wanted to know if 800 mg of riba is enough? Does the intake of riba dependent on the viral load ?

Some doctors Rx riba based on weight, some still flat dose all geno 2s and 3s at 800 mg. Is 104,500 your baseline vl or your 4 week results?

I am confused also. Is your viral load the same as when you started or have not gotten your latest results yet? What level is your hgb at? Didn't you just have blood and a viral load at 3 weeks rather then 4?

If your riba was weight based you would be taking more then 800mg per day which is 11.94 mg per kilo, at 1000 mg per day you would be taking 15 mg per kilo which would be a good dose. The problem is that weight based dosing doesn't mean you are absorbing the riba.

Hopefully someone with more experience with geno 3 and pegasys will help out here.

he weighs 67 kg I believe.

in that case the weight based dose and the flat rate would be the same  800/day

65 - 84 kg = 800 mg/day weight base
flat rate geno 2,3 = 800 mg/day

My baseline vrl is 104500.Getting my HCV RNA test report today.Will know about the decrease in vrl.Doc told me to undergo HCV test after 4th shot

There has been slight decrease in hgb,which presently is 13(boderline).My Doc only asks for platelets count before telling me to take the interferon shot.

Other problem is that , i wake up with a hangover in the morning.Is this coz of medicine or something else ?
