Is it alright to take tramadol with hep c?

Dear Dr. Dietrerich,

Is it alright to take tramadol with hep c? I was diagnosed with hep c gen a stage 3/4 fibrosis about 4 years ago, I did treatment but after 4 months I became so anemic that I had to have 5 blood transfusions over a 5 week period and had to stop treatment, I am very lucky I made it through this without having a stroke or something, I guess I am 1 out of 2 people that they have seen have such a bad reaction to the medications, the other guy did have a stroke.... I hurt my back a couple months ago and found out that I have a degenerated disk and a herniated disk in my lower back, I am taking 2 50mg tramadols twice a day (200 mg. ) total per day, I also take 2 5/500 vicodin once and a while (once or twice a week ) if my pain is severe.

Is this a safe amount to take with my condition?

Thank you

Dave

Thats ok, thanks for the info, it helps, your taking pretty close to what I'm taking, except for the percocet, I didn't realize that you have to pay 23.00 for the doctors input so I'm glad you repsonded, I  was looking for someone to answer my question, My family doctor said it was ok, but he is not a hep c specialist. I know all about the acetaminophen, I just wasn't sure about the tramadol. Good luck to you also.

Thanks again

I have osteo arthritis in 6 cervical vertebra and disc pressure on the cord. I take 100 mg tramadol twice a day and 1/2 percoset up to twice a day for flair ups at work.  My doctors are aware and are O.K with it, just have to watch the acetaminophen amounts with the Endocet- in your case vicodin. Sorry I answered when you clearly directed the question to the doctor- but your situation is so similar to mine I felt compelled. Good luck.

Hi Bill,

I will just repost here, I didn't realize you had to pay the Doctor for an answer.

Hope your treatment went ok, I'm feeling fine so far, more of a mental thing for me right now.

Thanks

Dave
