Jaundice eyes - how can you tell?

When you have jaundice, how yellow are they?  My eyes don't look paper white but I'm not sure if I would consider it jaundiced...

If you had jaundice would it be something that you could tell easily just by looking at yourself in the mirror??  

I'm concerned because I have/had a bout with alcoholic hep (self diagnosed) and haven't had a drink for awhile.  Most of my symptoms have gone away except for a slight tenderness and slight full feeling in my upper right abdomen.  Now I'm trying to assess whether there is still a problem.  I know I should see a doctor but without medical insurance that's a problem... I've been taking Vitamin B12, Folic acid, Milk Thistle, eating better and most importantly not drinking any booze... although to be honest I don't think I was drinking ~that~ much... however, to be safe I'm not touching the stuff except maybe at New Years and only then in moderation... after this liver episode I really have the feeling that life is short, especially if you don't take care of yourself.
