I think it is a preview of what it feels like to be 90. Sure hurts! Mine is worse the first few days after shot days. Pai meds help. Hag in there the joint/boe pain is normal for txers.

The sx of tx are flu-like symptoms. Some get it and some don't. I think I remember more flu-like stuff going on the first couple of weeks. I would be fine but an hour after taking riba, start feeling bad.
Then I noticed I had NO MORE JOINT PAIN at all. I'm talking the arthritis I had BEFORE TX!!!!!!!

by NYgirl, Aug 01, 2006 12:00AM
Seems like some get it and some dont but it could definitely be a side effect

Best thing to do is talk to the doctor - he might have a med or some idea on how to help with the pain

Pain management is a part of the treatment of this disease.

Thanks, I'm trying to avoid taking motrin unless I really can't stand it. I have my blood work done tomorrow and see the doc. on Thursday. I'm sure all will be fine, I'm going to have to bring a list of things I want to discuss with her, I'm such a space cadet that I probably would forget most of what I should say.

Joint and bone pain have been pretty consistant for me through the last 36 weeks. I'd always check with the doctor and make them aware of any new sides. I've burped all my life and now when I do I blame it on the sides. I guess that is human nature. Good luck and I hope they slack up on you and you have smooth sailing through it all. Dale

It seems like every joint I have every hurt , knees , shoulders fingers , hurt for a couple of days after my shot. It makes my arthritis flare up quite often. Ibuprofen has really helped me with the aches.

I've noticed more joint and bone aches occurring with the changes of WBC and ANC, both as they dropped and as they increased with the Nuepogen tx. It seemed to be worse on the slide than on the rise.

My dear, I hear you on the "woe is me thing" and then see posts from folks that suffer much more than me. Ya know, if we were all PERFECT than we wouldn't need this forum. Gain strength from the strong here - they really help. Also, YOUR pain and fear and concerns are very legitimate. I needed anti-depressants. Talk this over with your nurse or doctor for sure. Gonna Beat It - love your name. Lori

I'm already on Paxil, kills the sex drive but heck, who has energy for that any way. I really don't know if its working because my depression seem to come in waves, great huh.... Maybe I'm becoming bi polar, that would put some fun in the mix.

Yeah, WAY too much fun! My husband thought of hiding the 12 gauge - just kidding!? Hmm? I was on the ole emotional roller coaster ride, too. Didn't know if I was going to rage or cry from one moment to the next. I still think you might want to keep your med. team apprised of your emotional state of being. How long have you been on Paxil? Does it take some time to kick-in?

by Gonna beat it, Aug 01, 2006 12:00AM
OK, I'm popping a couple ibuprofen, another thing folks, are you at all alittle weepy, the littlest thing happens and I'm all teared up, then I'm ashamed of myself for feeling sorry for myself, there are so many that have it so much worse than me and I try hard to remember that, but sometimes the woe is me, wins out...

by Gonna beat it, Aug 01, 2006 12:00AM
It does take time but I've been on it for 3 mos I'm not sure if its working or not...like I said its waves, kinda, you know like theres a hole in my marble bag!!!!!

Ibuprofin at 800mg per day was recommended by my Gatro when I was under treatment, and suffering from joint pains like you. He said it's much easier on your body (liver, kidneys) than Tylenol and others. Sure helped me, but I only took one 800mg per day. You will need prescription for that dosage. Good luck. Pain won't last forever...

Read somewhere (either MK Andrew or here) that a guy was standing in line at a check out and just started tearing up. His suggestion was that perhaps he wasn't peeing enough. When I first started the tear thing, I used to hide, after awhile I just kept doing whatever, looking kind of pathetic.

I'm on AD's and still had 3 episodes of what my shrink called "Dark Depression". They only lasted a few days and I would be back to my normal feel like heck condition. Of course I never felt I wanted to harm myself, beyond being on tx. Be careful.

by Gonna beat it, Aug 01, 2006 12:00AM
Pathetic, now thats a look I can relate to....its not even the embarressment of breaking down...let us not forget, the red puffy eyes and runny nose and swollen lips.... it can't get more attractive than that.

When I entered the darkness, I had no emotion. I'd sit or lie with a 1,000 yard stare. The crying was a "normal" part of tx, for me. Every time Dr Grey lost a patient, I had to turn away from the TV.

I had a lot of joint pain when I first started treatment. I think it is common. I control mine with tylenol and advil.

Thank you, all...I really appreciate all the advice and the chuckles...and knowing that I can somewhat put a complete sentence together.

In the first few months I had hip and leg pain that foced me to take tylenol a few nights a week especially after the shots.(prior to that, I could count the number of pain relievers I had taken in MY LIFE on two hands). After first few months it subsided and stayed gone throughout tx, but I have minor hip pain s now that I'm done. It doesn't hurt enough to take anything, though.
