Just heard from my doctor

by annieCinMD, May 14, 2009 03:46PM
He's going to write me a prescription for Xanax. I think I have a sinus infection on top of everything else that's going on. I didn't think it possible because the Riba has got me so dryed out everywhere, but that pressure on my face, teeth, etc. is unmistakable It's probably not helping with the dizziness, and fatigue, either. I left work early and called my primary, but missed her. Looks like I'm taking a sick day tomorrow and dealing with doctors and drug stores.  I'm very relieved about the Xanax though.

I take occasional Xanax and it works great for my occasional anxiety from treatment.  I'm not on ADs because they absolutely did not agree with me.

I left work early today too.  Weakness is setting in for me too.  I had my monthly blood test this afternoon so we'll see if it's anemia rearing it's ugly head or not.

Good luck getting everything worked out.

Glad they gave you something--the Xanax will work.  Be careful though as they can become addictive if taken every night.

I'm well aware of that fact with Benzos. I've seen people trying to get off them, and it's not an easy ride. In fact, they are one of the hardest of all substances to kick. Long half life makes it easy for the body to build up a toxic amount. They do work quickly, though. I know that if I have an incident like yesterday, I can pull over and get some relief within 20 minutes. That makes me feel better.

Momma loves me some Xanax, lol!

Ok...I have only taken a couple during my entire tx, and I half the .25mg....but they sure serve the purpose when you need them.

Sorry about the sinus thing.  Hope you get some relief soon. (are you drinking enough water?)

Take care =)

Tons of water, well it's Black Cherry Fresca right now, but I have a history of sinus issues and water helps big time. I'm also using Ocean to try to douche out my nasal cavity. Nothing coming out, but that pressure is a dead giveaway. As far as the Xanax goes, and the Tramadol that I have for headaches, they are almost like a crutch. I'd rather have them and not need them, than need them and not have them!

That is so true.  I had a prescription for Xanax that was 14 years old, lol!

I LOVE Ocean.  It's the best.  My daughter is hard core...she uses a netti pot.

I seem to be in the same boat. (I already had the xanax) but I seem to have a sinus infection as well as 2 of my kids. The pressure and my teeth even one of my ears.. My NP told me to use clariton Or however you spell it. Once a day. I have an appt tomorrow morning so will see then and keep you informed on what she says.

It seems to help until its almost time to take it again lol

Rain, get the Netti pot! Wow! What a good suggestion. It is like Ocean x 10. Thanks, hopeful. I didn't expect to find one in CVS, thought I was going to have to go up the road to the Natural Market for it. My primary put me on Amoxicillin for 10 days and Mucinex with no added extras. I took all that plus the Xanax, and I am going to take a nap for a couple hours

I first took Xanax for a couple of years after my hysterectomy in 1996 (turns out the anxiety was from low hormones and when that was taken care of I didn't need the Xanax anymore) but, after I was done getting prescriptions for the Xanax, I carried a bottle of the left-overs around with me for about a year before I had the courage to throw them away.  I never took them...it just made me feel better having them with me.

Mucinex is the BEST.  We live on it.  Hope you all feel better soon =)
