From a personal standpoint, I was probably infected before I was married, and after twenty years my spouse was still virus free.

The only time that matters Bill, is when you were having sex. The other 19 years don't count :)

I have hep C and I was told and also did some searches on this and there is less than a 10% chance of passing it sexually. As long as there is no blood to blood contact you should be fine.

Hi Kat,

HCV transmits inefficiently through sexual intercourse, and although infecting a partner this way is unlikely it’s possible.

From a personal standpoint, I was probably infected before I was married, and after twenty years my spouse was still virus free.

If your husband is infected, it’s probably a good idea to get screened periodically for infection; you can discuss this with his doctor further if you like. Of course, condoms are always an option if you’re concerned.

Take care-

-Bill
