I was diagnosed with lichen plaus about 8 or 9 years ago.
It was there for a while and never bothered me. I got an erosive flareup, and was snet to the oral surgeion for biopsy., wjhihc confiremed the lichen planus. He persribed an oral steroid creme whihc helped a lot.
No onoe ever mentioned it could be associated tihe HCV. Last year I was diagnosed with HCV based on elevated LFT by a new doctor after we moved.
My irritation from lichen panus comes and goes. I hear it is prone to be exacerbated by stress.

I was trying to get some info for a friend who has had lichen planus for a long time only her condition is pretty severe and raw.Am not too sure there is any treatment hence my post.I dont know what steroids would do on top of hep c or even if a doctor would use steroids with someone with hep. Thnx for your reply anyway.
I found out I had HCV from going to an oral surgeon because of a dry line on the inside of my mouth. He told me it was Lichen Planus a mild case. If I wanted to treat it he would give me a steriod pack. If I didnt treat it he said it would eventually go away. I left there and a couple of months later went to my regular doc and just happened to tell him about the lichen planus. How many people tell their regular doc about their dental visits. When I told my reg doc about that the first thing he said was I need to test for HCV. Needless to day I was pretty shocked. Also that my oral surgeon didnt even mention HCV. he did mention an immune reaction but that is it. I didnt understand about any immune thing. He should of told me to get tested instead of take two asprin and call me in the morning. Like I said my case of that is fairly mild just the white lacy looking pattern on the insides of my cheeks. I dont think there is really a cure for it. What is your situation?
