Lichen Planus??

by dlr2007, Jul 03, 2007 12:00AM
Hi all- First of all, congrats to those who have recently finished tx!!! I read constantly on this forum but post pretty rarely.
I have a recurring skin condition that my PCP can't figure out. Every few monbths, the lymph nodes in my right underarm begin to swell, then in a couple days itchy, painful bumps break out on my right palm only. Once the bumps appear my lymph nodes swell more and really hurt. If I touch the skin on my right arm in certain areas, it hurts or feel cold, like there is ice under the skin. Last time a red line appeared going from the blisters up the underside of my forarm. All this lasts about a week, then just fades away. Could this be lichen planus, which I learned is a sx of Hep C? Has anyone else had this? Thanks for advice- I'm also posting in the dermatology forum. -Dee

Uhm - sorry -- Nope... I didn't have that one. (I had alotta sides - but thankfully not that one)

Sounds moderately awful.

The red line sounds like blood poisoning. So get a second opinion.

Have they offered antibiotics?

Sending out best wishes.  I'm sorry I don't have any help for you on this one.

Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry you have many side effects- they can be awful. This one is my least bothersome- worse are the fatigue and joint pain- but this is definitely my strangest side, if in fact it's related at all to Hep C. Well I hope all is going well with you- thanks again for answering. Also- the red line scared me but I think if it's blood poisoning the line follows a vien (at least I hope so?!).
  Best wishes & prayers,
-Dee

No - the red line does NOT have to follow a vein.

My daughter had blood poisoning from a splinter that got stuck in her palm and it went straight up the middle from the base of her palm to the middle of her arm. It looked like a welt without being raised - and it moved very rapidly.

It was red/pink bright.

So  - if you have that - well get it checked.

Much hope and good times ahead for you.
