HEPATITIS C COMMUNITY
Little Scared

Little Scared

I have hep C 1a and I'm kind of scared. I have been in Denial about for about 6 months, I'm pretty sure that I have had this for about 6 years because I can remember the people that I was using drugs with at the time I think that one of them Had hep c I'm am now clean from all drugs and alcohol and involved in a 12 step program. Well any way I have been in Denial for about 6 months now and have been eating the wrong foods and drinking a lot of caffeine. Im ready to start taking care of my self prior to treatment and I was wondering if there was any one out there that could tell me what diet is working for them. My Dr just tells me to do everything in moderation and is not very clear with what he talks about. I'm thinking of changing Dr. I dont know. one more thing my wife whats to have a baby and all the research we have done is pointing in the direction that we are able to just as long as she does not have hep c and thank God she does not, she tested negative praise God. We it looks like I will be a Father soon and I just want to be around to see the kid grow up. I have had lots of depressing thoughts and I guess I just breaking the mold of my Denial. I'm very blessed to have a on line community that I can talk to. God bless you and keep you close. myGODofHope

Hi there,

There’s really no specific diet for Hep C patients. Eating a well balanced, nutritional diet is a good idea for anyone; the diet recommended by the American Heart Association provides an excellent guideline.

There shouldn’t be any problem with your wife having a baby; as long as you aren’t on treatment for Hep C (HCV). One of the drugs used to manage HCV is ribavirin; it carries the potential to cause birth defects during and six months post treatment.

Good luck to both of you, and continue to read and ask questions—

Bill

I really haven’t spent much time personally researching supplements. Nothing in this looks like it will hurt you, but you should run this product by your doc and get his take on it.

The thing is, supplements will *not* cure you of any viral hepatitis; no matter how much you spend, or how hard you might believe they will cure you. Milk thistle is used extensively in Europe, and might improve some quality of life issues, but again, it won’t address the virus.

Be aware of what these supplements are capable of, don’t expend money or resources that might be used towards a cure, and check with your doctor prior to putting any of these in your mouth :o). If you’ve done all of the above, and still want to use them, go for it :o).

Take care—

Hello there! I can fully relate to you and where you are coming from. I think being a little scared is normal, whatever normal is (lol). I am genotype 1 and into week 18 and am undetectable!!! Praise God!!! I drank and did drugs and partied and was really out in the wilderness and just wanted to escape from reality. the alcohol and drugs turned against me and i had to stop or I was going to die. I thank God for taking that desire out of me. i too was in a 12 step program which led me to my church, ask your friends in the program to pray for you, as well as your church family. I too was in denial and there comes a point in life where you have to face things straight up. I thought i was going to drive these people nuts in here with my questions and whining (lol). I had to put my full trust in God and ask God to work thru the doctors and nurses and give them wisdom.  I stayed in this forum alot, and just learned and learned and learned. I learned ALOT. As for eating i try to eat healthy as Bill said a sensible diet, it tells you in the bible to do everything in moderation? fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, fiber, oats, i do think that eating shell fish is not recommended (i hope someone else can tell me if it's true or not). drink water all the time, i even carry the water with me wherever i go. I slip up sometimes and drink my diet coke, or have my sweets (wer"e only human). I even kept thanking God for curing me before I even knew i was undetectable, i acted out in blind faith, and just did the next best thing.I do not want to end up with chirosis of the liver, or liver cancer. I pray mostly on a daily basis and am very greatful to be a part of Gods plan. There is a saying that I think gave me soooooo much Hope and that was>>>> God COULD and WOULD, IF He were Sought? that is a very powerful message to me, and guess what? it works, but you have to do the foot work. I wish you and your wife the very best, and please keep in touch, and please ask questions, we are here to support each other.
God bless you and keep you in His care,
jonney

Thank you very much for your kind words. Im very happy to find people that I can talk to about this. You and I have a drug past and was not necessary in the will of God during our use of drugs but we were still part of his plan. Its sounds like we both are trying to stay in lined with the will of God. Thank you for showing me your FAITH and you have given me Hope. God is truly using you in this community.

Be blessed George.

I juiced and took Milk thistle before treating...Beet juice really cleansed but you have to start out slow. Unfortunately the only lasting cure that i have found is interferon and ribavarin. I was prayed over and anointed by my elders and believe that God directed me to treat with the drugs available. I guess this was my cross to bear. My mantra thruout treatment was I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me. Was it easy? No. But I was able to extend and afford treatment thru the Grace of God. A year later I am undetected, and this community of people was instrumental in getting me through!
You are in my prayers...Julie
