Little tiny bruises from liver issues --question

I am wondering if anyone else gets these 'pencil eraser' sized red bruises from liver issues. They are not too frequent so far and usually appear on my thighs above my knees but today I noticed 3 of them on my upper arm above my elbow as they usually appear side by side (sort of). What exactly is it and what can I do about it? Obviously it's a signal from my liver about something. I recall someone mentioned they had these and I am wondering about the details to the bruises.
What is the liver trying to tell me and what if anything can I do about it? Is it diet related or what? I get so little info from the docs it's utterly pathetic since my visits are in 6 month intervals. Even if you haven't had them but know about them please chime in. Thanks

The reason for my low platelets is as a worried mom says ue to my diagnosis of cirrhosis 7 years ago I now have some protal hypertension due to the extent on my liver damage resulting in a low platelet count mine is between 80 -90 range.

Even if I am able to clear hep c this time I still will have cirrhosis and I only have the hope that over mant years my liver may improve enough that my platelet count could rise and maybe even get back into normal range but that remains to be seen.

For me first things first beat the virus.

Hi there. It does sound like petechiae. This would be the best guess since your platelets are so low. The liver makes clotting factors, as well. When the liver is seriously damaged, the spleen enlarges and "eats up" the platelets causing the petechiae and bruising. I have never heard that eating any special foods can help elevate the platelets. I would check that out with your doctor. It is definitely not diet related.

I have the Pupura version from this virus. It isn't bad yet. the spots come out rarely and in 3's. I looked it up and if my platelets don't increase I'm going to be asking the doc to not ignore it. I can't make sense of what I researched. No mention of liver issues. I did have a recent sinus/respiratory illness with myalgia. It's the platelets. I've had several potentially fatal bleed-outs before tx. This needs to change. I'm not on any meds of any sort. I detest pills and needles. Got HCV by giving plasma in fall/winter of 1980-81 by a subsidiary of ---a huge company called B**er-ya know the aspirin people. They gave people HIV too and were shut down only to open under a different name.

LAST labs said platelets were at 50. Doc's FNP thinks they'll come up slowly because of the absence of the virus. I'll find out more on the next labs at the end of Feb.
Platelet increase is done by eating more veggies too. I'll have to try and eat more salads. Mine are not the spider nevi. They are more like you describe as Petechiae.

Hi

I have both spider nevi and petechiae which are small red slightly raised flat red spots especially on my abdomen and my back. The difference is spider nevi kind look like little spiders and will blanch when you press on them but then they refill while petechiae do not.

I have had them for years they just keep getting more and more over time.

How is your platelet count?

The first thing that comes to mind is spider nevi which is also known by other names and is common with liver disease. here are two links, the first one talks about them and the second link has many images. Check out the image link to see if this seems to be what you are having. Best to you.
