Liver Failure

My mother was diagnosed with TB, she also had Hepititas C since a small child.  On the 9th of October she was admitted to hospital due to weight loss,  fever and night sweats.  Doctors came up with TB.  Fine, about 5 days later they started giving her Pyrazinamide, isoniazid, rifampin, and ethambutol.  (I can give you exact mg but I don't have her medical chart with me.)  About three days later, she began with edema in her legs, she became yellow, and her belly was severelly distended.  she basically from chest down became like a balloon. This continued until she died.  They say she had cirroses due to her Hep C.  I believe the TB medications killed her.  She was on them for a solid month.  They didn't stop, even when they saw this was happening to her.  Please help me I don't know who I can speak to.  Is it possible for the TB medication to do this.  Was there not another form of treatment, instead of bombarding her with these high doses of anti Tb medications.  I have all her charts I just need to know if she had to die.  Please Please help me, I need to know, I am the only child and I need to get to the bottom of this.  Sincerly Tanya Vian Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Please let me know if you need more information  Thanks

My mother also died from Hep C, she had the same symptoms, the bloated stomach, legs and feet. She was never treated for TB or given any of the medications you have mentioned, and we were told the the swelling was due to the liver not functioning properly and her body not being able to flush out the things it did not need.

My mom never drank and so we were totally shocked when we were told by a doctor after surgery for a broken hip that her liver was severly damaged, she had cirrosis (cirrhosis) of the liver and asked how long had she been drinking.

We learned once the Hep C damage to the liver is really severe the only recourse is a liver transplant, which in my moms case would not have helped do to her age and other health problems at that time. I have recently discovered my brother also has Hep C, which brought me to this site to research and find more answers.
