Liver Pain from Cirrohsis

My husband was had a liver biopsy 4 years ago and was
informed he had HEP C with moderate Cirrohsis. He is
on treatments for the 3rd time, this time he has lasted
22 weeks and the viral load is now at 10, it was over
6 million when he started the treatments. He medically
retired so that he will hopefully be able to finish the
48 weeks of treatments.

My question is should I be concerned that he complains of pain in the liver area? The reason for the concern is my father
passed away from liver cancer and had complained for years
of the same sort of pain that my husband is describing.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Thanks for everyones response. My husband did have a biopsy
4 years ago, which detemined the moderate Cirrohsis from
Hep C. He also has cat scans every six months, which say
his cirrohsis is moderate to severe with a 6 cm lesion.
He is closely watched with labs also. I have one more
question do they do repeat biopsy every 5 years 10 years
etc? He says it is pain and this is frequent in the liver
or liver area. He has medically retired at 53 due to poor
health.
Just concerned!

I'm sorry I meant lesions, although I don't want any legions either

My biopsy showed evolving cirrohsis. My doctor ordered a sonogram to look for legions, there were none. I recently had liver pain but it passed.

I also have cirrhosis. I finished tx. 3+ months ago and experienced liver discomfort before during and since tx. But, while it can be uncomfortable, it is not real "pain". If what he is feeling is real pain, I would definately discuss it w/ his Dr. Some Dr.s will say that the liver can't feel pain, however those of us that have felt it beg to differ. It may just be the area around the liver that hurts, but something definitely does hurt, so keep asking until you get answers and solutions that you are comfortable with.

I would ask your doctor and see what he/she says. My liver was inflammed and I know that contributed to the pain that I sometimes felt. One thing I have learned is to not be afraid to call my doctor and bug him with questions. Pain does not necessarily mean cancer. It seems like he probably had a biospsy if you know he has cirrohis and I believe that is one of the ways they determine if there is any cancer in the liver.
Good luck to you.
