Liver Pain?

Can someone clear this up for me...does the liver feel pain..

I have finished tx, doing the waiting game.. sometimes I think I am feeling discomfort on my right side, I start obsessing and think maybe the virus is back. Just some input would be appreciated.

Thanks

there are no nerves to feel pain in the liver, but you can feel pain if the liver swells, or if the GB is backed up or passing stones, or if your rib cage gets inflamed, or if you colon or intertines have any issues. Most people by 50 have some diverticulitus in the alimentary canal and so a lot of pain people think is therir liver can be that, or stomach, GB etc.  I think it's only natural to worry over every little twinge and gas pocket that comes after tx. but you need to try to put your mind to rest. You will find out soon enough, meanwhile try to enjoy your time of finally being freed from the Copegasus iron maiden. It's gotta be worth a few joyful moments just to have that behind you.
And PS, since you can get pain and excess stomach acid from worry there's that too.
In any case, My doc told me to expect to have some discomfort for the rest of my life, just based on my stage/grade of fibrosis and other issues. I would be surprised to learn that anybody DIDN'T worry and feel more pain following the tx.
1. because coming off the drugs can itself cause a backlash in the immune system, and
2. because the mind wants to hope but the sword of damacles daily dangles every gurgle as if it were a bad omen. So learn to accept that worry is natural...and then, ignore it. Just let the thought feeling come, and go. No matter how much you worry it won't change anything anyhow. As Jesus said "can any one of you, by worrying change even the color of one hair on your head?"  In other words, the outcome will be known soon enough, meanwhile, try to enjoy frredom from little blue pills that kept you in that awful matrix.

I've had pain like that off and on over the years.   I also had 'gall bladder gravel' at one stage and while I didn't want to do the full 'gall bladder clense'  I read that stewed apples/juiced apples soften gall bladder stones and are the first part of the cleanse.  Whenever I had pain I had extra apples for a couple of days.   Unless it was my imagination, it seemed to really help (also during tx).

Another time with pain, my doctor suggested it may musculo-skeletal and had me do some exercises which clicked all kinds of things back in and did provide relief (i.e. hanging from a door frame or pole, or lying on your back on your bed so that your upper body and arms are hanging over.

There's no reason to believe that the pain is caused by a relapse.   When I didn't respond to the monotherapy it took 2 months for my ALT's to skyrocket so at this stage, even if it was a relapse, I don't believe your system to feel it.

Sooooo, relax a little and just tell yourself that the biggest secret you hold in your body at the moment is the 'SVR secret' :-).

The liver does not feel pain, but the lining around the liver can feel pain.

I'm UND and have discomfort on my right side that I would term "liver" pain, but all my numbers still look good so I try not to get too worried.

Your gall bladder is in that area.  It could be that....it could be gastro.  I think mine may be related to all this heartburn I have been having.

This may sound silly, but for me if my clothing is a little snug...that seems to aggrevate those feelings.  Let's just say it's been a long time since I've worn a belt =)

I know someone will come on with more precise information....but until then, I just wanted to let ya know you are not alone in your concerns.

Good luck, Deb.
