Can a patient be considered for a living donor liver transplant if the liver damage came from alcohol abuse

Yes they can but they have to meet certain criteria. One being sober for a certain period of time. The Uni. of maryland transplant program says 6mos.+enrollment in a formal treatment program+socialsupport group.
