Interesting post. Don't know if it's a scam or the real thing but I always figured the Russians would need to come up with a cirrosis therapy. Time will tell and stem cells sound better than transplant if it's viable
If I were at the stage of needing a transplant or doin the stem cell approach I know what I would try first. These people are the mayo of the us system and because of Bush they are far ahead of our development. This is moving at a super fast rate and is very promising.

well unfortunately, their claims sound a bit fuzzy. could be real, could scam.
However, there are very serious scientific stem-cell based efforts to do similar things in clinical studies (e.g. in Japan, Iran, Britain, Brasil)
The main approach seem to be to harvest stem cells from blood or from the bone marrow, turn them into hepatocytes and inject them into the liver. The long term results and their clinical relevancy have yet to be seen. Some studies have already published (the Japanese team) others are still collecting the data. (e.g. the Tehran team). but all in all, i think this is all very promising. Question as always, when will it be mature enough to come into mainstream practise?
