Liver problem or IBD ??

by sudesh, Mar 02, 2004 12:00AM
My liver functions (about 2 days ago) show borderline normal
SGPT 41 (3-40) SGOT 37 (15-40) Alkaline phos. 79 (37-107) T Bilirubin 1.1 (0.1-1.2) D Bilirubin 0.1 (<0.4) Albumin 4.0 (3.5-5.0) and protein 6.8 (6.0-8.0). About 4-5 months ago they were about 5 points less (SGPT - 35, SGOT - 32), about a year back they were in the teens range. I also have SUSPECTED IBD (time to time inflammation of the Illeo-ceacal junction, but ALL biopsies show chronic inflammation, that's it) & CHRONIC gastritis. LAst year I did all the ANA, ASMA, Anti-Mitochondiral Antibodies, Hepatitis All forms (I don't indulge in those things anyway), they were normal. Liver sonogram shows mildly enlarged liver sometimes with no focal problems. Abdominal CT & sonograms otherwise normal. I never drunk alchohol and am a pure vegetarian. I am however overweight by about 45lbs correct weight 180 , presently 227. In the last 5-6 months I increased from 215 - 227lbs. Other than this I am very particular about eating fresh fruits , vegies but no time to exercise. Please let me know what's going on with My Liver .
Thanks All

It really doesn't look like you numbers are anything to be concerned about here. I am no doctor though and definitely I would run this by him or ask him if there is any need to be concerned.  You said you had gained some weight and thinking maybe this could be fatty liver related but not sure.  Sorry I'm not much help on what you are needing but calling your dr and talking to him about your concerns is probably best bet.
