Long term decrease in WBC

by Stan Grossman, Apr 25, 2000 12:00AM
I am a 55 year old male in good health.  On 4/18/00 I took a physical exam coupled with a routine blood workup.  After looking at the results of prior blood workups, I have some
concern about a downward trend in my WBC count since 1993, as follows:
     3/93 - 5.30;
    11/94 - 5.00;
     4/96 - 4.3;
     4/97 - 3.90;
     4/00 - 3.60.
My SGOT (23), SGPT (30) and PLT (170) were normal.  I have Atypical Hyperbilirubinemia which has been gradually decreasing from 1993 (2.36) to 4/00 (1.9).  I'm working on lowering my Cholesterol (244) by diet (I had previously lowered it to 199).  The other "abnormal" values seem to go along with the lowered WBC, i.e., ABS Lymph (1.3) and MONO %(5.7).  Can you think of a reason why my WBC should be slowly decreasing?  Any advice
would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.
