Low Globulin level

I posted this question previously, but never got much of a response and I think the old thread is closed.

Question:

Has anybody had low globulin levels as a result of liver disease? I have low globulin and a boderline protein count of 6.2. My Albumin is fine though at 4.5, so I am wondering if I am dealing with a liver metabolism problem or an immune reaction. I am having a electrophoresis done to break out the globulins, so that should hopefully provide some answers.
Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks very much for your responses. I had not come across these particular breakdown explanations and they are helpful. Hopefully, the electrophoresis will provide more answers.
