Lupus with Enlarged Spleen

Lupus with Enlarged Spleen

I was told last year I have systemic lupus and was wondering if anyone has similar symptoms. My ANA's were tested, range was 0-99 my results equaled 1351 and my liver numbers were both high as well. My spleen has been enlarged for over a year and causes discomfort and even pain. Of course I have fatigue and memory problems, feeling sick, occasional low grade fever, etc.
What is the results of all of this, the doctors just keep sending me back and forth to specialist. My liver isn't inflammed but my Hep tests are positive, ANA's are high, Lymphs are just a little high, Liver ALT's are both high. Does this everntually lead to death, is there a way to deal with it, all the usual questions. I was told I do not have hepatitis, but I might have had mono in the past, but no one knows when, and as far as I know, it couldn't have been in at least the last 6 years. I have also had ingunal hernia surgery, which seems to be about the time all this started, and I had it done in the Navy on top of it. I still get discomfort on the right side of my groin, but doctors don't even look at that as an issue, but I've been told by a co-worker that my body could be rejecting the mesh placed in both sides of my groin. I do lift weights and run, but it only lasts for awhile and it feels really good to do at first, but I'll hit a spell that floors me for about a month and I stop everything and sleep alot, and my spleen gets irritated from running and bending. I just am at a loss for what all is involved with lupus and an enlarged spleen, most sites deal with kidneys, lungs, heart and brainswellin

Hi Did you have a liver biopsy?  In reading your post some of your results like ANA, and mono are often associated with AutoImmuneHepatitis. It is not an easy diagnosis, in the end the doctor put me on prednisone and said if I had AIH I would get better if not nothing would happen. I do have AIH, confirmed by a biopsy and the predn trial. The spleen is not something I know anything about. You mentioned your hep tests were positive? And yet you were told you do not have hepatitis. This is confusing.
Hope your doctors get answers for you

Last night I posted not knowing if anyone would reply, so I'll clarify my results a little bit. ANA=1351 w/reference range 0-99,WBC's 3.6 w/ref 4.0-10.5, Lymphs 47 w/ref 14-46, HEP A AB Total is Positive(A) whatever the (A) is for, AST(SGOT) is 41 w/ref 0-40,not too bad, but my ALT(SGPT) is 96 w/ref 0-55. Everything else is normal or darned close. All this started with low grade fevers usually around 95.1 to 96 degrees which lasted about a month. My spleen had never been enlarged prior to this and I've always been healthy till all this. At first they thought my liver was to blame, but did tests and found my liver is normal, but my spleen was enlarged which they didn't expect. I even went a doctor to check for lymphoma but was cleared of that. The only thing I can attribute to all of this is I had 3 surgeries in the Navy and after that is when things started going down hill. I had mesh put in both sides of my groin, twice on the right side because they screwed up the first time, and I had a microdiscectomy which probably isn't hurting anything. My spleen does cause pain, and I was told that yes they do enlarge and don't cause symptoms, unless parts of it are dying due to lack of bloodflow, which is probably the case for me since my ANA's are so high and I'm not on any treatment to lessen the swelling, and I was never told how to manage my condition or to take any precautions, that's why I'm posting for info, because my doctors are more into doing things by the book than curing or preventative medicine

I just was wondering, is there a way to flush the spleen naturally. This might be outside the box, but maybe my spleen is just backed up and a good cleaning would get things back on track. I've always worried about the symptoms instead of the solutions

Just wanted to let you know, I got a copy of my medical records because I"m switching doctors. Last year in September my spleen was 15.6cm which is twice the size it is supposed to be according to the doctors.I'm switching doctors because I had alot of other things wrong with my blood tests than just my ANA's, ALT, and AST numbers and for six months of testing including 5 cat scans on top of blood work, I really didn't get that much information, let alone any kind of treatment. Needless to say, I was not happy with my doctor and need a change of venue.
