Meal before interferone shot

Meal before interferone shot

Hi

Can anybody tell how much the gap should be ideal between meal and shot of interferon. I have heared that Ribavirin should be taken with/during the meal as its efficiencey increases due to this, but what about the interferone shot. Should it be taken before the meal, during meal of after how much tiime after the meal???

It doesn't matter when you take your shot.  Only Riba needs to be taken with food.  Recommend you inject in the evening, preferably on the weekend if you work so you can give yourself time to rest.  People do what works for them  Also, you don't need to open so many threads.  You can ask multiple questions on the same thread.

as trinity said it does not matter with interferon only riba. FYI riba works best if taken with a food that has higher fat content, i.e. peanut butter, yougert, etc

Just a personal recommendation...I do my shot just before bedtime...that way, if I have any sides (the chills, aches, nausea, etc) that I can take Tylenol and sleep through the majority of it...It's advised you take it the same time every week...Oh, for the most accurate blood tests/ viral load, have your labs drawn just before (like earlier that day) you have your shot...
By the way, the first 4 weeks or so, my electric blanket became my best friend for warding off the worst of the chills..(((((((((((((((((((((((HUGZ))))))))))))  ~Melinda

As others have already said here, it's the Riba that needs to be taken with some fatty food, not the IFN.  I take my IFN shot a couple of hours before bed along with a Tylenol just in case.  I also drink a lot (!) of water - I try to drink 25 oz at least an hour or two before the shot and I drink 65-75 oz of water a day (religiously) .  So far my symptoms have been varied but very mild - the worst being a nasty tiredness the day after the shot that a three or four hour afternoon nap seems to clear up (so far).

I take the Riba with breakfast and eat the breakfast about 20-30 mins before I take the pills (600 dose  each time ,twice  a day) .  I eat something for breakfast like an egg or a half oz of cashews or a piece of toast w/butter before I take the the Riba.  I Also drink about 16-20 oz of water before taking the pills.  The only time I took them without eating I got kind of nauseas for half an hour.

hope this helps somewhat.

When I wake I eat 1 tbsp of peanut butter on a saltine or graham cracker 1/2 hr before my riba.  On shot day I eat a large heavy meal and then b4 bedtime a heavy snack.  I noticed this helps.  The one time I just ate a light meal and no bedtime snack I woke up vomiting and nothing to throw up bcuz my belly was empty.  Hope this helps.
live well,
