Meds Delivery

by newday, Feb 13, 2004 12:00AM
If anyone of you use a delivery service for your medication and have the choice between Priority Healthcare and Advance PCS, please choose Priority. I have just had so many problems getting my meds delivered, Advance PCS is totally incompetent. With Priority they used to call and remind me of deliveries, they would check up on me to see how I was doing and also give advice on sides. With Advance PCS, I have just spent all morning on the phone trying to track my delivery!

In case you’re wondering, my insurance company, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, has mandated that I use Advance PCS and that is why I’m stuck with them. But, for those of you who have choices, please vote with your buying power.

Thanks.

My doc set mine up with Priority Healthcare and it's great.  Have not had a single problem and they call me each month to see what day I want my meds delivered.  I also have the option of calling them but have never needed to.  And my insurance picks up 100%.  Can't ask for anything better.

My doctor initially set me up with Priority, but then Priority called and said Wal-Mart could give me a better price, so they recommended I go with Wal-Mart.  I actually liked dealing with Priority the short time that I did.  Wal-Mart has been good about sending my drugs, but they never call to see how I am.  They do have a 24 hour nurse on duty and I've called her once and she was very helpful and kind.  But, see my earlier post - I am disappointed because Wal-Mart told me that they had gotten authority from Blue Cross/Blue Shield and I would only have a $1,500.00 deductible before BC/BS kicked in 100%.  Now I find out that Wal-Mart did NOT get pre-approval and the last I heard about 10 days ago, it was supposed to go before some committee at BC/BS to get approval.  I haven't called to find out the status and Wal-Mart already sent me my second month's worth of drugs, so I figure I'm not rocking the boat on the insurance issue until I have to.

Hi everyone its Steve from Down-Under I had my last Riba tablets 2 days ago now & I've finished my 27 shots of Pegulated Interferon ... I did a few extra (3a Genotype) ... I had my end of treatment PCR blood work results last week I'm <b>"Undetectable"</b> what more can I ask for, so now I've gotta sit back & let this all leave my system so I can get back to a normal Hep-c Free life ... It was all worth it fellow heppers... I hope you all are ok today ... For any newbies considering treatment <b>Go For It</b> I would do it again in a second, it was not all easy going but even on my worsed day I had a flashing light above my head (Kind of haha) saying <b>"Remember Why You Are Doing This... Never Forget the Goal"...</b>
My next blood test in 2-6 months is the one that counts the most... am I right! .... I'll keep popping in & reading here & offering my help because now I survived it all & I can maybe help someone just like I was helped on this site ... I thank you all who've helped me out ... <b>---Steve---</b>
PS: I Hope DHBill & Mr Bill are on easy street with their Tx

Really I am keeping them on hand (even tho' tx. is done) to use just in case off power outage, to put in cooler. Hope you are feeling good! Cindee

This cool guy named Steve from "Downunder" has always been a positive influence to me and helped me to buck-up when I needed it and keep my eyes on the goal. Keep in touch man.

I think My insurance woes are finally over although I will have to pay $1825.00 out of pocket to finish tx rather than the $200.00 I would have under the old carrier. This whole thing took a toll on me.

Although my doc still refuses to go more than 30 days at a time (have to see him every month) inspite of my blood work always being very good I will get mail order to my house by a local home infusion co. here locally AND finally the injector pens that use half the volume.

BTW! The supporters of our cuurent medical system (USA) say that others such as overseas and Canada are sooo much worse delays of service and such. How come those of you using those other systems have NOT said anything (I have heard) of yours being so bad. Just wondering, comments please.

20 of 48 to go, counting down for launch July 1st Gonna be a big 4th of July at my house.

i have blue cross federal employe insurance and plan on using
medcohealth for my meds.
anyone else use them? and if so how was the service ?

I use medco health for all my meds, the trick is to get your GI to write you a 90 day script for the injectables and the ribiviran or any other meds you will be taking long term. I'll give you an example- If I use the medco health  mail order and send in a 90 day(3 month supply script) of Pegasys I only have to pay my co-pay Of $100.00, I can go to my retail rx and only get a 30 day(1 month) supply for the same co-pay- that goes with all meds- As long as you use the mail order Medco Health offers and to get your GI to write your script or scripts for 90 day supply, you'll get a tremendous discount, and there service is outstanding- meds allways on time in a nice cooler packed with frozen gel packs that's for both the pegasys and copegus. You can also use this with any other Doc, just make sure you use the mail in service and get you GI or any Doc to write your script for 3 months. If you already knew this, I just did alot of typing for nothing- See Ya and the best of luck on your Hep Journey to the Beyond. -- HD
