Membranoprolific Glomerulonephritis and Hep C
Hi All

Anyone develop chronic kidney disease as a result of having Hep C?

After completing 12 weeks of interferon and ribavarin in 1997 I was cleared of HepC. I am still PCR undetectable. Just found out I have chronic kidney disease. Interested to know if it is a common thing with Hep C. Many thanks.

Found an article from the New England Journal of medicine NEJM first hit in my google search

“Membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis Associated with Hepatitis C Virus Infection“

Apparently this condition is on the spectrum of known extrahepatic conditions that are associated with hep c infection in some patients.

There is an article titled “Extrahepatic manifestations of chronic hepatitis C virus infection” on ncbi.nlm.nih.gov you can read on the subject of extrahepatic conditions associated with hep c.

Again first hit on google when I searched extrahepatic and hep c

I trust you are discussing your condition with your gastroenterologist, hepatologist or nephrologist.
