Milk Thistle

Milk Thistle

I was told by a friend that he knew someone else who was told they were "allergic" to the Peg-Intron/Ribovirin treatments.  He told me that taking Milk Thistle had helped his friend and even the doctors said he had improved somewhat.  Does anyone know about this herbal treatment?  If so, has it helped anyone?

Yes,,,milk thistle does help the liver and many here take it.  I was told to discontinue while on tx.  During my tx, I stuck just to taking the riba and interferon, I didn't want to add anything to the mix but many have continued their milk thistle during tx.

some of my "mustard", as we say in Germany, to this point too.
Here they say that this herb is protectiv to the livercell. That is nice, if you want to protect the cells from environmental substances.
BUT: If you are on tx, the infected cells have to be killed to get rid of the intracellar virus copies. So one does not want to protect these cells.
That is the theory here in Germany for not taking it during tx. Sounds logical to me.

Have a nice WE!

Morgiana: uhhh, I don't get it either...but this is how 'out of it' I've been lately...bought a new telephone the other day, got a neighbor to set up (I used to be able to read manuals, but now? alas) anyway, thought the new phone was defective cause I couldn't turn off the ringer on it, so I took it back and got another one...after all that re-packaging, what a pain....

To my outrage, I couldn't turn off the ringer on this newer phone either...

The teenager comes home from school and says, oh, that's not your new phone, that ring is from your fax machine! and gives me a look...grrrr....I hate it when I'm shown up by a 17 year old, and it happens so often when my brain is on vacation! with the menopause and hep, gee whiz...I guess I should be glad she's around or I'd set my hair on fire...

Drofi: having lived in Berlin, all I can say is that Germans have an extremely dry sense of humor, generally speaking...maybe that's why me and Morgiana don't get it...
nicht stimmen Sie zu? (I'm rusty there too)
