vitamin e 400-800
zinc 50mg.....i was low in zinc on test
My study doctor is running a Milk Thistle study beginning next month and they are recruiting patients with hepc and fatty liver disease. However, he told me NOT to take milk thistle during treatment because it may cause interactions. - FYI
Okay, guys,,I'm commin out from undercover,,watch my back lol
Liquid calicum/mag Tropical oasis get it at GNC
Vitamin D3 1,000mgs but I take (4( 4'000. Doc told me.
(nsi Nutraceutical sciences Institute) vita cost.com has it
Strontium 680mg (take this to build bones, but must be taken 4 hours before or after calcium as it competes with calcium) I take it before bed (nsi)
Jarrow- N-A-C 500mg
kyolic garlic 600mg 2caps
twin lab daily one w/o iron ..I don't take every day because of niacin in it, so alot of my vitamins are individual. I take this just to make sure I get the little bit of copper needed.
Milk thistle, Lipoic acid and selenium morning and night
lilly of the desert whole leaf aloe vera juice (organic) at least 2 ounces a day in with my greenie and rugy red drink
nutriBiotic GSE liquid concentrate (grapseed extract) organic
10 drops added to greenie/red drink
gnc flax seed oil organic i teaspoon daily

natures answer dandelion root 2-3 capsules
then the B vitamins I have been taking individual getting from GNC except for the b12
b12 is Jarrow formula Methyl b-12 1000mcg. I wa taking 4- 5 aday to increase my serotonine, but now I have a high amount in my blood serum as last test showed, so I will cut back to 2 daily. Definitely helps with mood taking the b'12 and folic acid
I'm sure I forget something, but its getting to be a pain to take all this, but its helped over the years. most women of menopause age are on blood pressure meds and all sorts of stuff, so far no meds. thyroid med I stopped recently and that was the only I had for short time, but it looks like my thyroid work out on its own.
paso,,the ruby red is www.RubyReds.com and the green drink is from Gnc Maximum greens. I dilute organic grape juice with distilled water,(I dilute to lower the carbs) and I mix the red with the green, put in the grapeseed extract and aloe vera and its not bad. I leave it on my kitchen table and sip at it an before you know it I finished it. But actually none of it tates bad at all.
forget ot mention I also take Jarrow Dophillus. on empty stomach,,stomach acid can kill the probiotic bacteria and you will be wastin your time taking it. Jarrow has an enteric coating to help.
It all time consuming and expensive, but its better to do this and hopefully prevent the body from breaking down.
crazy train.. thats some testimony. what did your doctor think about what you are taking?
Thanks for the tip on vitacost.com. I will sure check it out.
Don't know what "green drinks" and "ruby red" are. Can you fill me in? DO THEY TASTE GOOD? I live on Propel right now.
In my opinion, I don't think they can say anything or delete this post for breaking the rules. This is a patient-to-patient forum on Hepatitis C. Are we doctors? No. Do Americans in general take vitamins and supplements? Yes. Do we take these supplements, vitamins, etc. because of Hep C? Yes. So, this thread should stay up.
Everything listed below is just done once a day, except my anti-convulsant - that is also taken mid-day and evenings. That and my friend Paxil are prescription; everything else is non-prescription. Here's my regimen, for what it's worth:
---
Neurontin, 600 mg
Why would you stop taking milk thistle or other supplments while on treatment?? Can it hurt to take, say omega fish oil, while on tx?? I do have a herbolist who has me taking a zillion things.
youre preachin to the choir here, I go without them (sometimes I do a supplement fast, just to clean everything out) and boy, can I tell the difference, usually in about a week or two...can you tell me your regimen? you too My Own...if you don't feel comfortable, I'll tell you where you can tell me...I don't think we'll get beat up anyway...no one said anything so far! ha ha! Besides, so many people take this stuff...I'd just like to know...
I am post Tx (Discontinued on 9-11 due to low PLT count, completed 7 weeks)and HCV-PCR result from 10-02 came back negative (<50).
I was diag HCV geno 1a in April after being hospitalized from variceal bleed episode.
Before I started Tx a good friend told me about this frozen liver protein stuff he took after not being able to tollerate the Peg/Reb sides. I told him I was gonna go the Peg/Reb direction because my insurance covered the meds (They wont cover this other stuff and talk about expensive - ouch)
Ok, so I started taking this stuff on 9-18, you wont believe it(heck I hardly believe it myself) but my CBC's and Liver Panel test results were nearly back to normal. Exceptions: PLT was still low @65 (up from 43), AST was at 44 (down from 117) and total Bilirubin @2.8 (down from 3.8) Note: 10-9 results AST@40 and Tot Bilirubin @1.8.
And as I said above HCV-PCR was Neg.!! VIP Note: VL was extremely low @8,650 IU/kL to start with. I have to say that I'm impressed thus far, and wondered if anyone else had used. Heres a link to some info on it.

paso,,,i also like the green drinks. GNC has a pretty good one and I also drink ruby reds. both are good and it helps on top of supplements. Everything is so expensive but i found vitacost.com to have very good prices for vitamins. lots of brands too.
forseegood... the NAC i saw that some continue to take on tx, but I'm not sure what viamins to take if tx. It is scary if you may be taking something that will fight the riba or something, so if you hear of safe stuff let me know. thanks. hope all is well. do you have a start date?
Crazy train. thanks for the article, it was good. The frozen protein I never heard of. You take it? Are you tx now or finished?
NCCAM site with research study information covering a wide variety of on wide variety of herbs and such. As I am not that familiar with NCCAM I cant say anything regarding their credentials, but reference material seems credible enough.
Forgive me for asking but does anyone have experience with using live frozen protein cell products ?

Oh by the way, the real meat of the site starts about half way down the page.
"us supplement heads move around here like secret KGB agents"
You two crack me up! I must say it's the supplements that keep me going. I'm post-tx ... unless my upcoming doctor visit changes things. As some supplements/vitamins run out, if money is tight that week, I have to just let them go for awhile. I notice a change within a week.
They not only help my Hep C, but also my RA and a couple of joints that took hits pretty bad dealing with horses.
Thanks for your posts, keep it up!
yeah, I sure wouldn't take milk thistle on treatment, it cleans certain liver pathways and you want those meds to stay in there as long as possible, though I would take more then youre going to MyOwn..
Snook: know you don't come around much, but what was it that you took along with treatment? I had it somewhere but I have to go really look for it...
thanks NYgirl, if i tx, I would definitely stop taking the MT and alot of the other vitamins also. I'll stick with just the b vitamins and a mutiple.
Be careful not to take on treatment though.
lol,,yeah i know, ya sometimes get that cringe before you hit the button to post a vitamin thread,,but we have to remember that there are enough of us on forum that ARE interested in this type of info that you posted,,so keep on posting, girlfriend. lol
youre welcome! us supplement heads move around here like secret KGB agents, ha ha! Hope youre well with a pep in your step!
Its good to see that not all doctors laugh at milk thistle. I take mine faithfully with lipoic acid and selenium, twice a day, along with a zillion other vitamins. Thanks for the article.
