Missed a dose....so pissed

When I went to take my riba pills this A.M., I discovered that I didn't take them last night! So I did something impulsive and stupid and took all 5 pills at once.  I told my hubby, he yelled at me about taking all five.  I called the Be in Charge nurse and asked  what to do when you missed a dose (I neglected to tell her that I already double dosed) she emphatically told me not to take a double dose.

How bad is missing a dose?

How bad is doubling up when you do? My blood counts are back up, and most of my sides have miraculously disappeared about three weeks ago.

My next shot is #15 and I was UND at 10 weeks (although I don't think it was one of those sensitive tests)

As the Be-In-Charge nurse says, doubling up after missing a dose is not recommended, but a number of us have done the same thing during treatment. I did it several times. And because you now have mathematically "caught up", in effect you really haven't missed a dose because riba has a very long half life. So the double-dose you took this morning will average in easily with yesterday's half dose.

Everyone is different, but what I found is that I got a little "speedy" after a double dose but that was only temporarily. Other than that no problems. So unless you start feeling very sick or something, I'd just forget about it and move on.

I wouldn't worry about missing a dose of ribavirin. The doubling up probably wasn't the right move but you'll be okay. Ribavirin stays in the body for quite a while so the missed dose shouldn't compromise your treatment. Things like that happen. Relax. Mike
