Money obesity Denial

by Balrog1, Mar 15, 2004 12:00AM
In the last 24 hrs how much money has been spent destroying lives with multi-million dollar weapons. How much has been spent producing them? How many children in the third world have access to clean water. How much dose Bill gates earn(Hegave $200mil for R and D) he has $50Billion. No-one wants to know do they lets worry about the price of Blonde Bleach instead. Everyday say your thanks for the sx of tx. There's a couple on here had ESLD well see those folks we are pointing Tomahawks($1mil a time)at the ones with hepc willmostly getit if they haven't got hiv.
They must remember DRINK LOTS OF WATER.

While I acknowledge that you feel passionately about your political stands, please understand that people come here to find comfort and support in their quest to beat Hepatitis.  There are many, many forums that would welcome your contributions.  http://www.politicalcrossfire.com/forum/ is one where your comments would be more than welcome.

I'm not going to get into a political debate with you, but Bill Gates has contributed multi-millions of dollars to the HIV epidemic in South Africa.  He may not be contributing to HepC charities (I personally don't know if he has or has not), but at least he is contributing to something.  Just because it isn't on our specific behalf is no reason to slam what he does contribute to.  I am just happy that someone in need is getting benefits from his billions.

I agree, this is a HepC forum, not a political forum.  You are opening doors to all kinds of debates, comments, opinions, etc., which are not going to contribute the the health and well-being of the people that come here for comfort, support and help dealing with treating or not treating Hep C.

I ask you nicely, please stick to the issues here.  We already have so many to deal with.

I get in heated arguments with my SO on that BG issue.  If I'm a billionaire giving to charity, why boast?  There was more merit in the anonymous donor of the million from the Mcdonald's monopoly game.  If you have $10. and give 8 to charity does it have more value than someone with 10 billion giving away one? after all one million is more money.
I am thankful for my sx, because it means I am fighting the demon and I have great insurance providing me with this oppurtunity. My contribution to the hep c battle.

Balrog or troll? I agree with your analysis of the disparity in how wealth is distributed in this world. When was it ever different? What have we done to change things?

However, I have been in the computer industry since 1979, shortly after Bill Gates charged for his version of BASIC distributed on a paper tape. In the 1960's, no one ever got fired for buying IBM and the rest of the world hated Big Blue. In the 1970's, it was DEC who ruled the world. By the 90's, it was Microsoft's turn. Don't ya think this too shall pass? Don't ya think that if Steve Jobs hadn't been an arrogant a$$, we'd all be using Macs? Don't ya agree with Balzac's observation "There is no great fortune without a great crime?"

All beside the point. I discovered this site shortly after I started tx last Oct. What drew me was the caring and supportive posting to and by people on tx, contemplating tx, or helping people with tx. I've watched (and particpated in one of) two flame wars since Oct. Unfortunate since good people stop showing up and newbies who are as scared and ignorant as I was when I started may not stick around to find the gold.

People jump in with humor, personal stories, get involved in each other's lives, and pass on whatever info they can to others. In my opinion, humble or not, the focus of postings here is hepc support. When I want to argue politics, computers, brown vs white veal stock, whether the Silmarillion is a better book than LOTR, I find the right venue.

The problem with free speech is that people use it to say things you disagree with.

Gezzzzzzz, this forum hasnt really been the same since you left. Too many people distracted from the issues at hand.....There is only a handful, if that, of people here that discuss Hep C/tx/anything related.......It seem to have turned in a a chatroom. thHEPGY has gone, he was so full of info for me. I wish i knew what site/forum he went to.  I dont need to know about politics or what people cooked for dinner, their pet peeves, etc.....i wish you had time to come here more often.....thanks for all you have given me.....I will do #12 tonight........phew

by cuteus, Mar 15, 2004 12:00AM
dinner chat , jokes etc are all distractions, welcome ones as long as they are not used to convey discord.
We all need distractions now and again,  all hep c work and no play....it is a way to get up and "stretch your legs".   I am sure others will see it different.  That is the beauty of the rainbow.

be well

I have acquired so much information on Hepatitis C since coming to this forum...that it has been a real God Send for me. However, the best part of this is...we are getting information from people that have already walked it, in midst of walking it and of course all the ones also waiting and going with alternative options. There is days...that its all information which is great and then some days, I have noticed it can be laid back and I kinda get to know the people that I visit in this forum so often.  Its so important for me to really know alot of you as we are all in this together so if you have fears...its perfectly ok for me...for you to post them.  I don't know if I could handle just all facts daily about hep c.  Honestly, I probably wouldn't come here so often but that is just me.  I understand that so many don't have much time and want to come for a few quick answers and that works also...doesn't it?

Someone does Dallas ???

To: Debbiedo/Galen....Old and Newbies
Debbiedo...I copied this from a comment I made to Dallas...it was actually MORE pertinent to your comment...and please also read my apology;

Dallas,...You are a ray of sunshine for so many people here and you must never let anyone push you away from this board again.(does this remind you of another time???) I bet some of those PERFECT oldies know what I mean!!! You know, back when only SERIOUS STUFF was discussed on this forum...hahahahah. I am sorry, I'm sure that in those days things like.....Oh let's see....badgers/balm...and...getting ran over by TRUCKs...and...whether or not it was OK to color your hair.....and..... beautifully sexy advice was NEVER given... about how to take care of those precious petals on the SOUTH LAWN ....never...no never discussed. No things were way to serious back then....And back then when things were perfect...and only sharing information(oh and support)...there was NEVER a case of RIBA RAGE...and people always got along...No one ever got mad because people weren't spelling words correctly...OH no...especially not the word lose...or was it loose....heavens NO...that never Happened...Oh and back then.......let's see...I bet newbies were never AFRAID to post cause they were afraid they might make a mistake or use too many threads..... all of us had to learn forum ettiquette)...that some RIBARAGED oldie would pitch them in the fire with the dragon......NO... that never happened......Oh and since this forum used to be sooooo serious.....we NEVER had whole threads talking about the silly things that happened bcause of the FOG.....like when MAJ accidently flashed her neighbors while out getting her mail...(of course this never happened...hahahah)

It almost sounds like this was NEVER a place where a terrified newbie came... deperate... for a connection with another person who could UNDERSTAND this whole HEPC nightmare.....or that there never was a special person who welcomed that newbie by introducing her to the forum and the persona of the newbies, oldies, and those wonderful heppers who resided in the clouds cause they had achieved SVR....tipping cows and waiting for Indy to come and join them.....If it wasn't for these things...that I MUST HAVE IMAGINED.......I could never have opened up with, cried, laughed, empathised, learned, and loved...or shared my deepest fears....successes...and failures with.....

Please tell me, Dallas......I didn't imagine all of compassion, laughter, sharing of knowledge and insight. I think some people must remmember how things USED to be.....in the days of the OLD BOARD....differently......cause I thought that when I found this forum...it was the OLD board....and if it would have been all clinical and sterile here...I might never have come back...If someone hadn't caught my attention with a bit of Hepper Mythology...I might not be here today....and then I would never have met so many wonderful people...people who truly care about HELPING others...people like you, Dallas... and many others....
am I the only one who remembers things this way? kim

C24 berlynn
(16-Mar-04)  Sorry:...All I am truly sorry if I was untactful....I am just starting to become disheartened by all of this discussion about old and new. I am sure their will always be a continious flow of people through this forum....people who have different beliefs, values, backgrounds and cultures, there is always bound to be some kind of dissagreements and debates....it's perfectly normal with such diversity....and should be appreciated and respected as long as it is not hurtful to others. We all come here because of our commonality in HepC. We all have different needs we hope to have met here...information, comraderie, compassion ...from my heart, kim

by hepcbilly, Mar 16, 2004 12:00AM
Please forgive my stupid comment above it had nothing to do with Dallas{our girl} but with Dallas Texas and was meant to be a joke for a few having some fun. Sorry !
