Mononucleosis § your liver /GIPA § others

by Tootsy831, Jul 12, 2002 12:00AM
Here's my story..My nephew got sick 2 weeks ago today, it was just confirmed on Mon. that he has Mono..To my understanding Mono can affect the liver and the spleen..I have autoimmune hepatitis & currently taking Imuran..I was around my nephew this past Sat (7/6) one week after becoming ill..I did have Mono about 31 yrs ago..And also to my understanding, you usually do not get it more than once..How long is he actually considered infectious/contagious..His sister has practically been at my home every day this summer..I also realize that saliva is the biggest threat..What about hand contact, etc..Any info anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated..
Thank you in Advance!!!!        Donna
