Mouth irritation

I am in my 9th week of tx and the inside of my mouth has been very irritated.
I tried rinsing with peroxide and chewing gum and drinking lots of water, yet my mouth just seems to get more irritated.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Will this usually stay like this for remainder of tx, or could it possibly just go away?
Any suggestions?
Thanks.  GingerB.

Hi Ginger. I had the same thing, still do but not as bad. I was given "Magic Mouthwash"
by my doctor prescription only and it numbed it and helped quite alot. ALso I couldnt eat anything spicy, no pizza, no soda,  not much of anything because everything would burn and feel horrible.

Speak to your do about it and hopefully it will go away.

Hi, I just finished TX.  This problem came and went for me.  (2 times)It does go away, but takes awhile.  I like the magic mouthwash suggestion, I didn't know about. it.

Unfortunately, I had this for all 72 weeks of treatment.  Due to the Interferon. I never found anything that worked at all and I had the tongue bumps BAD.  Dr. Jacobson told me once he had a patient that had it SO bad he had to quit treatment.

I feel very sorry that you have this starting up. Try your best to keep your mouth wet at night - maybe a humidifier in your room while you sleep?  The dry mouth causes havoc with the bacteria system in there.

One good note a week after I stopped treatment it was pretty much completely gone and never came back. That was over a year ago.

The dreaded mouth bumps! They come and go with me!   I have a bump right on the end of my tongue! It is driving me crazy!

I forgot to ask about the magic mouthwash, next week I will!

Mine would come and go toward the end of treatment. I got the magic mouthwash and it helped a lot. I would definitely reccomend it.

Get a prescription for stanford solution.  However, only a real druggust can fill this prescription.

whatever you do don't use peroxide, or anything with alcohol. Some RX mouthwashes come with r without alcohol, for your purposes get one without it.

I had a bad viral mouth/throat infection the last weeks of tx that was driving me crazy. I could breathe but when eating or drinking anything, it was like a bad acid burn. The doc prescribed Lidocaine (Viscous 2%) less than 0.01% alcohol and it worked great.

Bobby, I don't know if it will work on lip sores tho.

I also had it real bad during tx.  My doc actually gave me Valtrex and antibioticsI did have the magic mouthwash also.  I think the Valtrex helped the sore spots in my throat some, could have been the antibiotics.  I also suffered from fever blisters.  Couldnt eat a whole lot!  Very painful!  Good news is it does go away but unfortunately took me a couple months.

I also had the mouth sores and was given Clotrimazole (Rx), generic for Mycelex. Worked great!
