You aren't nuts, we all worry about the same thing. I've been married nearly 30 years, my husband doesnt have it. I'd have her tested just for peace of mind but the chances are very small.

In a decade long study done with thousands of monogamous couples not one positive person passed this virus onto their partner. It is very rare to pass this sexually. Obviously you don't want to engage in any activity that would involve blood exchange and if you don't, the chances are very remote of her getting it from you.

Slim but some people have been infected this way. Like Kalio I've been married 30 years, 4 kids and husband test negative. Thank God! Tell her to do it for your peace of mind. I asked my daughter to be tested when she was 7 months pregnant, I was so worried and embarrassed to ask. But I don't have to worry about her or the grandbaby now!

There IS a small chance that you CAN contract it, but it's small.

However, my exhusband has HepC and has for many years (over 25).  Two years ago I decided that although he kept telling me it was nothing to worry about...I'd just gotten into a new relationship and wanted the test (along with an HIV test...my x is a piece of work) just for peace of mind.

I wasn't too surprised when it came back positive although I was completely horrified.

I could have gotten it any NUMBER of ways with my own drug use (non-IV maybe gotten from snorting LARGE quantities of cocaine back in the 80s where they biopsy me to) but I had an exboyfriend from the 80s who died of HepC as well - and another xboyfriend who's wife now has liver cancer and is dying and that appears to be from Hep as well of course.

So...the moral of the story - since it is possible although unlikely and you never really know where you have gotten it from...............better safe than sorry.

I could easily have been one of the 3% from any one of those guys OR my own susbtance abuse OR the dentist OR ........................................

Hep C is NOT a Std.  Hep B is considered a Std and is easier to treat than C.
