Nausea, vomiting

Hi,
I had a lot of nausea this morning and vomited twice today. I finally got an Rx from the dr. compazine. I found the Jin Shin Jyutsu points for it and it helped (top of the wrist in the middle is one). Needless to say I took the day off.

That's a good pt. for nausea. You can get a wristband with a BB in it to press on it, and you can avoid using needles if your WBC  get low. Hope you get some relief from the compazine - I used phenergan.

I was wondering how you're feeling.  Sorry to hear it isn't better news.  Be careful what you eat (if anything) and take it easy as possible.  Maybe watch a funny movie or take an easy walk.

I found that zofran works well if I take it with my pills.

I'm sorry the treatment is making you sick.  I read in a post awhile back that people who are actively fighting the virus get sicker than non-responders. I actually know someone who sailed thru tx without side effects, and without getting a drop in his viral load also.  I don't start treatment for another week but part of me wants to get sick and get BETTER.  I hope you can keep up the fight. By the way, do you work full time? I am planning on it.

I waited until my stomach was settled before I took my rebetol. I didn't lose any medication, Lady L told me about that.

Ladybug: Yes I work fulltime, but my job is very easy. I answer the phone if it rings and I do the mail (both from the dept. and US). Most employees are very nice to work with, especially the biologists. They will never stab you in the back. They won't even make a judgement on anything until they hear the OTHER side of the story. They always give you the benefit of doubt.

Sorry you are nauseated. I struggle with that too. Ginger can work quite well. I drank ginger ale and it does work for me at times.  Compazine worked to and phenergan worked not as well. The Zofran wasn't covered by my ins. so I didn't try it. The nausea is not nearly as bad nowadays. There are brands of ginger ale without additives and junk in them.
Glad you posted, I was wondering how it was going. How nice that you have kind, supportive co workers. That will help a lot during treatment.

Sorry to hear you are still nauseaus since yesterday. You weren't vomiting though. I am glad you called the dr. for compazine. It really worked for me when I couldn't keep things down. Did you get the suppositories?

Are you still taking the herbs from dr.Zang? I wonder if you should try not taking them for a few days to see if the nausea goes away. Most of my sx's change from week to week, so hopefully the nausea will go away. It is awful!!

grandma, did you know that some lemon juice can be really good for nausea? try it, if it doesnt interfere with ribavirin like grapefruit juice.

also, the homeopathic medicine Ipecac. in 30x potency is really good for nausea.

try to sleep early and get up early,and take an early morning walk.

Ipecac is used to INDUCE vomiting. That is the last thing I'd use if I was nauseated. It is used when someone has ingested poison or some other awful thing you want them to vomit out. I used to keep it on hand when my kids were small for just that reason. Believe me, it works. Unless you want to barf your guts out, don't take it.

Yes,,,,,lemon juice does cut nausea! While you are drinking water all day,,,,squeeze lemon in your water and it tastes great also!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Trouble with compazine it puts you to sleep. I came to work and fell asleep. I will have to ask my Dr. for zofran on Fri. when I see him. That doesn't put you to sleep.

At my job, I also do light clerical like make copies, and a little typing. I'm clerical back up.

No, I didn't know about the lemon juice. I planted a lemon tree in March but it's not producing. Guess I will have to head for the store, smile.

I heard of the Ipecac before I just don't have any right now.

I didn't have any nausea this morning but took the compazine anyway and I fell asleep at work.

I get off at 2 today for the dental cleaning. Then tomorrow is my last day off this week. I get every other Fri. off.

I never had that problem with compazine, but I was usually so wiped out from the vomiting that I probably wanted sleep! Glad to hear you are feeling better and have the day off tomorrow. How do you feel besides the nausea the first shot week?

SFgirl no I didn't get the suppositories. I didn't get to talk to the Dr. myself. His MA caught him between patients. He took over another doctor's patients recently and he has too many now.

I remember Dr. Zhang suggestion that a patient take their morning pills with food and the lunch and dinner ones they can take 15 min. before eating. It's on the doctor's Q and A page. Now it makes more sense to me, since I lived the experience.

LOL. kalio, u understood only half of the picture :)

IPECAC in its crude form (the mothertincture) is used to induce vomiting.  

However, when you create a POTENCY from the mothertincture, it has the opposite effect.  that is, it causes your body to react to vomiting, and causes the INVERSE of vomiting.  

Thats the principle of homeopathy, to use a small dose of something, to cause its opposite.

Notice i said IPECAC 30X.  That is, its diluted 30 times.

and for those of you who still don't know, you don't have to dilute homeopathic medicines such as Ipecac by yourself.  

They are available in dilutions, aka potency.

For example, you have Ipecac 30x, 200x, CM, etc.

Take snake poison, Lachesis.  If you ingest the mothertincture, you die of course.  So mothertincture isnt available.  But a 30x potency is great for fever.

Good luck with the nausea,  sometimes after you vomit ( no nice way to say it ) you feel better,  we weren't allowed to take much on the study, so little cheese curls helped me,  and I was mostly nausea in the morning... mine did get better after about 20 weeks.
good luck, stay away from acid foods..... lime is more alkalizing in the system
