If you cut yourself and bleed into someones food you were preparing, or serving...would you still serve it? You need to be in another profession if you can even ask such a question....JMHO

This is a serious question, because it happened in the place I worked.I told  the person who was in charge, not to serve the food to the public, But was told to shut up.35 members of the public ate the food.

That is a very serious situation.  Do you have a union, or a union rep you can speak to?

I agree you should bring the incident to the attention of the health authorities.  While hep-c is unlikely to be spread in that way, many other things can be.

That's disgusting. While it wouldn't pose a threat of HCV, like Wyntre said, it can spread many other things. That should be reported along with the manager's response.

I brought it to the attention of the Health authorities, They attitude was; no one from the public complained about it, I replied the Public does not know, and I think the public should be made aware of the fact.
The Health authorities said  no action like that will be taken till someone gets sick.
I myself find it very disgusting.
I  left the place, but the person with Hep C is still handling food , and serving it.

I don't know what else you can do  snow, other than report it again to the health authorities, or possibly to an attorney.

I would keep a record of all your actions regarding this situation.

That is why I signed on here, and want to get more information,I want this to come to the Publics attention,I already had a fret  from them with legal action , if I do not stop talking about it..They wanted me to come for mediation, and sign a confidentiality document .But I refused.
I am in Toronto Canada, and it seems like the Law's are different over here, then in Europe. So I need all your help, to get all the information .

I don't know anything about Canadian law, Snow (and little about American law, either.)  :(

There are a couple of Canadian posters who log on to forum on a regular basis.  Perhaps you could try flagging them with a thread title of "Canadian Hep-C health laws" or something similar.

That is so upsetting, to know someone is exposing so many others to the possibility of disease through ignoring standard health code regulations.

is that why you left the job?

Don't give up.  it's an important issue.  (IMHO)

Here is an (older) link to some diseases transmittable by food service workers.

Yes I agree it is very upsetting, for me too.I actually was ask to leave , because I made such a fuss about the whole situation. It was not actually a paid job I left.
I was a volunteer at a  Baptist Church here in Toronto. The church gives out food every Thursday and makes food for people....and the person who told me to shut up was actually the Pastor of the church and wrote me a letter , if I do not keep quite he will take legal action .But I do not want to keep quite...Because as a Pastor he should not  be doing this , to the public....
