Need Hemotologist opinion - not Hep C

Hi Dr.

I couldn't find a category for hematology...so you were the closest thing.  I have been diagnosed w/ MILD leukopenia.  My white count is slightly low 3.30 and has ranged from 2.3-5.6 over the last several months.  My family doc referred me to a hematologist.  All of my other bloodwork is fine.  Just slightly low WBC and RBC was also low (3.96) for one of the tests.  I have been on iron supplements for 2 months and I'm still testing low.  I have abslolutely no other symptoms...no fatique, no bruising, no swollen spleen and the breakdown of the WBC is fine.  He wants to do a bone marrow biopsy just to make for sure nothing is wrong.  My family physician seems to think that is a little overboard and that since the levels have been fairly consistently borderline low it is just my makeup.  In your opinion, is there a reason for concern?  Should I have the bone marrow biopsy?  I hear it is pretty painful.
