Needle prick/poke

I work at convenience store and we have through that garbage every night in bin. So i pick up that bag from top of knot as it was tied from top. As soon i pick up the bag i feel like something prick or poke me right under my middle finger nail. So i thought it might be needle in bag. I saw there was no needle visible on top of bag. Then i squeezed and press my finger to see if some blood might come out of it. But i did not even see even one small dot of blood coming out. so then i did not open bag as i thought it might be something else. Like these day under my nails due to moist my skins peels off automatically under every finger of my nails. then i feel like some skin is about to come off that particular finger. So then i peel of skin and under that one small dot appear. So then i think it might be the area where needle poked me but no blood came out of that..

Am i at risk of HIV, Hepatitis a,b,c ????

Any suggestion will be appreciable.
Thanks

Hepatitis C: The Basics

How is it diagnosed, and what tests are used?

HCV Antibody Testing: Diagnosing hepatitis C begins with an antibody test. Antibodies to HCV can be detected in the blood, usually within two or three months after the virus enters the body. If a person is positive for HCV antibodies, he or she has been exposed to the virus in the past. As discussed above, however, about 15 to 25 percent of people who are initially infected with the virus are able to clear the virus from their bodies, usually within six months of exposure. The next step is to look for the actual virus in the bloodstream, using a test called PCR. If a person was infected with HCV very recently, called acute infection, he or she may not yet have antibodies, in which case a PCR test is necessary to confirm infection.

But as your doctor has already said to you "nothing to worry and move on."

But the thing is if it was a needle and if it poked me it should have bleed and i can see blood. And my doctor say nothing to worry and move on. He said to get infected it has to be injected deep enough to your blood stream or you vein .

My suggestion is that if you are worried and if it was indeed a needle stick that would be definitely a cause for concern to be sure yes get tested.

Or specifically to your question:

"Am i at risk of HIV, Hepatitis a,b,c"

HIV if it was a needle stick possibly to be sure get tested

Hep A I cannot speak to as we are a Hep C forum but I believe that is food borne by poor hand washing of an infected person.

Hep B is blood borne I believe, again we are a hep C forum so not sure but I would say possibly so if it would put your mind at ease get tested

Hep C if it was a needle could be a possible risk so same as above get tested if you feel the need.

See your doctor

Man that is a lot of if's, and's, but's and maybe's so let me say this, if it was a needle then yes there is a chance you could have been exposed to HCV, I suggest you wait the proper amount of time and get tested

Have a great day
