Needle stick by infected hepatetis C

My nephew accidentally stick himself w/ an infected hepatetis C
needle. But right away, he swap the wound w/ the alcohol (for disinfection). What is the chance (%-percentage) that he might got hepatetis C? Is there anything can be done to prevent him from
getting infected? His blood test did not show any infection (yet) - probably still too early to be detected at this point,
He took a blood test 1 week after the accident. Should he
start taking alpha interferon? Any uselful comment will be appreciated. Thank you

Hi  Thanx for your note..This has nothing to do with you, .. I KNOW those involved.. and as you can see in YOUR wonderful thread the other day, after the wonderful things you wrote, I resonded to you.. and then got hateful comments by those same certain  UGLY people .and this isn't the first time... UGLY goes to the core!  Lies and hatefulness is a way of life for some. That's their karma.

THERE WAS NO MORE ROOM IN THE other thread so had to put this here...

I came here originally for information, and to share in supporting others going thru this disease.. and while there are a few who are here for that same reason, there are also many who are here to tear others down,no matter what the consequences.  THAT has NO PLACE HERE!!
  A couple of weeks ago I was attacked, viciously blindsided by a few here who had contacted me and 'pretended to be 'friends'.  In reality, the took things that were said and twisted them until they were unrecognizable from the original statements, they gossiped, fabricated lies, created a complete work of fictions and presented it as gospel.
NOT ONE of these people bothered to directly ASK ME a question, or to clear up any confusion they had,, not ONE.. Instead their little nasty evil group of demons, set out on a mission to destroy me, lunch mob style. They PUBLICLY posted LIES, and innuendos on this and Lou's site.
I aslo received an email from one of them full of all kinds of lies and accusations.. all ASSUMPTIONS, but bearing NO FACTS whatsoever!   She sent copies of her email to several people and I only know of 3 that she sent it to.  I responded to that email POINT by POINT, and sent copies to the 3 that I knew had received her original mail...... so that they would know the truth, but... SURPRISE!!  They were NOT interested in the truth.  They just have to beliieve that the stories they made up are true.. they don't CARE about the TRUTH. They don't CARE about how they hurt and destroy others..
  In This thread, SHER made a nasty remark, and Chev followed..and it has continued.  and I have HAD ENOUGH!!  The ones who seem to be the WORST at making false accusations and trying to demean and destroy others, appear to be the ones always talking about god this and god that..and professing to be such wonderful christian people,, BULL!!!!  They have shown their true coloors MANY TIMES on here!
  PEOPLE like your little bunch are what bring sites like this down and why more people don't post with valuable info or to ask questions that they really want to ask...
   The other day on the ENCOURAGEMENT post, SHER made a snotty comment to me and I let it slide.. I typed a response, to her, but didn't post it.. but now I am posting it..since she cannot seem to control her hateful, lying mouth..  You can scroll down to that thread posted 2 or 3 days ago. .  I am WELL AWARE of ALL the lies she has told about me.. and from watching who posted what, I can see who else was/is involved in the slanderous activiites. And what is really odd is that SHER has NO business commenting on anything.. SHE doesn't Have HEPC or cirrhosis and  she has NO personal experience with it,

I am an RN who contracted this lovely, baffling disease from a needle stick,,,my guess is he's already got it,,,wiping with an alcohol swab was quick thinking,,,but needle had already gone below the skin,,,keep on being tested and tx  soon as it shows up!!!!   Some doctors will give gamma globulin?????????  That's all I know, little as it is,,,I am just another Bozo hoping to get on the SVR bus!

Yes, you can get HepC from accidental needle sticks.. That's how most healthcare professionals got it..I am one of them.
I can't tell you what the chances are.. it only takes one stick, one drop..The best thing he can do is consult a competent infectious disease specialist and follow their advice..be tested for a certain amount of time.. Sorry I can't give youa concrete answer, but it's a diseas wit a mind of it's own..  BUT,, THERE IS TREATMENT!! Good luck to him..
