New Hair Issues

I have read about what happens to the hair on our heads... I'm loosing mine slowly but surely... My eyelashes have gotten so long that they rub on my glasses, and my eyebrows look like my dad's did when he was 75 and I used to trim them for him.

Lately I have had the feeling that tiny things were crawling on my face. Today it was really getting to me so I put my reading glasses on and turned the bright light on and got a mirror to see what in the world I was feeling. I am growing fur on my face!!!!!!!!!! You know all of those tiny little hairs that we normally have on our face? I've got some that are 1/2" to 3/4" long. Even the tiny hairs on the top side of my nose are at least twice as long as normal.

I haven't heard about anybody with this issue yet. Did this happen to anybody else here? Am I going to have to resort to shaving my whole face before I get done with tx?

Diane

Long llama lashes, check.  Peachfuzz face, check. Constantly cutting eyebrows, check. Hair falling out, check. Hair not growing on armpits and legs, check. Yup you are on SOC for sure.  It actually made me kind of mental for  a while the peach fuzz face and I'd spend hours with a tweezer getting them out as much as I could, I swear I felt like a werewolf some days - I dont think Trin was joking about that!  Should have just gotten them to wax me here at work for free since my company makes the products but I was too embarrassed to talk about the whole thing I guess.  It made me feel really fruity (not that I"m not already anyways).

Just know that it's cool though, vampires and werewolves are in big right now so you are just following along in current fashion and tweens and teens will think you are really cool :)  And it will all stop after treatment (darn I loved those lashes).

Now I know what I have to look forward to........thanks!

The bizarre behavior is already becoming an issue.

"not grown back hair in my armpits........ Oh well."

Back hair is tough enough where it is.

How to recognize a treatment induced werewolf.

In human form, a werewolf usually has slanted eyebrows that meet at the bridge of the nose. Other can be recognized by the bristling or very thick and dark hair on their head or face, or excessive hairy bodies.

Therefore, look for symptoms that include increasing violence, increasing aggression, unprovoked rages, insomnia, restlessness, and other bizarre behavior. Unfortunately, over time these symptoms can be brought under control, so do not rely on them exclusively.

i recall some posts about llama lashes and out of control eyebrows. the facial hair is a logical extension of this. there are some decent depillatory creams that are even delicate enuf for facial hair but i would do a test patch first. i am not as far along as u but my leg hair is lots thicker than usual. hang in there!

Well treatment can do some strange things to us, it should end when tx stops. Although i'm a year post tx and have not grown back hair in my armpits........ Oh well.

Now if you start howling at the moon, might be time to worry.:)
Good luck

Glad to hear your thyroid is ok and that tx. hasn"t done anything to throw it out of wack.
As that can be one of the symptoms(albeit rare) of hyper thyroid it was a guess on my part. Hope you get it figured out.

Yep, Llama lashes are in full swing. I have really long lashes to begin with so I look like a freak.

I remember a number of people having the long eyelash sx over the years, but I don't recall anyone mentioning the facial/nose hair growth (perhaps it was happening and just not mentioned or I missed it).  My husband has noticed thicker and faster beard growth and a few extra-long eyebrow hairs, but not fur...yet... though his tx behavior is sometimes reminiscent of furry critters :). ~eureka

So far my thyroid is OK

It sounds like it could be also the result of your thyroid being overactive(hyper) Do your labs show a TSH  out of wack somewhat?

Yep strange stuff.  I have one patch of scalp and thinning hair on the top of my head.  The hair on my legs is longer, and my beard grows faster and much thicker.  The little red bumps have gone away but I'm still itchy. Strange what this stuff does to you.
