I guess we all get conflicting info. I specifically asked at my last appointment if the interferon builds up in the body over time or if it leaves before the next injection. I wanted to know if side effects would be getting worse over the long haul, or would they remain the same as the first injection and I was told the interferon leaves each week and does not build up.
I've only had two injections and with the first I had a terrible headache (only one of a few things I've never been prone to in my life, lol), slight headache the next day. With the 2nd injection I didn't have the headache...felt like it was going to start, but never proceeded.
I think this is why people schedule their injections the night before they don't have to go to work (e.g., Fridays if they don't work weekends)
I know in my trial, Fridays are packed with people coming in, so I started on a Tues....I can go in just about anytime all day long because no one else is going in.
In my trial we have to go in for the first three or four injections and do them there. Maybe that's usual, IDK.
Mine are in the manufacturer's labeled bottle, Ribashpere by Three Rivers, 200mg and I take two twice a day (800 mg p/day). There are 168 in my bottle. They do come packaged in other ways if you google the manufacturer.

Lovely, isn't it? But if it saves ones life.......
Right...I hadn't read of this with anyone that was only on DAA's, so was surprised to see it. Glad they reduced your riba!
I am on riba/7977 and don't have any problems with my mouth or tongue. Maybe others have had it, but it is not a common side effect of riba alone.
My husband's riba comes in a prescription bottle. They are 200 mg ea and they are smallish and pinkish. In past treatments they have come in blister packs. He hasn't had any problems with mouth sores with any of his treatments.

I have never heard of riba without anything else. I was told that would not work. I think I would talk to my Doctor if I were you. Good luck and God Bless.
Mari isn't on interferon. Has anyone heard of this sx before with Riba alone? Without IFN that is.
Mine come in the prescription bottle, 200mg each, they are orange. I was on 1200mg, but my doctor decreased me to 800mg a day. They make my throat burn. I know it's them, and not Incivek, because i take them by themselves in the evening.
Mine were blue and also came in a bottle. Maybe they send blue to the guys and pink to the gals???
Reminds me of the old member prettypinkpills ;)
Liquid acidopholus helps those mouth sores.
And eating fresh parsley helps, lots of it. I make omelets with it. It has lysine which helps with canker sores.
My riba were pink, in prescription bottles. I took 600 mg daily, 400 in the morning, and 200 later.
Good luck !
The tongue ulcers are from the interferon not the riba, it is a pretty common side effect. About two weeks after your last shot it will go away...as soon as the interferon is completely out of your system.
In 72 weeks I took many different riba pills........it doesn't matter.
Mine are in a flat packag when you unflold you see yellow strip at top blue strip at bottom sasy morning and night
They are in a box when I pick them up a pharmacy and it is 14 in a package 4 pkgs to box . pils are blue oblone not capsules. 400 milligrams each
Mine are little blue ones, made by the company, Three Rivers, but I have also seen people at my support group, who have these large white gelatin capsules. My blue ones are like aspirin...but I didn't have mouth problems, until I started the Boceprivir...then I got a bad taste (dysguesia) and a tooth infection, and I noticed, when I took the Pennicillin VK (for the sore crowned tooth), that my over-all mouth health go tbetter, and the white patches on my tongue dissappeared. I think warm salt water is good for mouth sores, I also use the Biotene, but it's too sweet for my taste~ I have heard of this "magic mouth-wash" that yr doctor can mix up and prescribe, which does have some antibiotic in it, I think, but you gargle, and spit out, so youshould ask yr doctor about that~
i have always gotten mine in a bottle. no problems with my mouth or tongue, just cracks in the corners. take care. belle
I have riba capsules, I peeled off the trial label to paek at the brand under it. It's difficult to read because some letters peeled off but looks like ribosphere. At anyrate I'm taking 1000 (5 - 200 mg a day). My weight is 113. My mouth is full of sores, drag. I also get headachy, overall small price to pay. I hope the moods don't get out of control. I'm trying to "sit" twice a day for 20 minutes to counter anxiety and have a stand by script for zanax (which I really dislike and haven't had to use so far. I do get anxious but mostly just deal with it.
Mine are capsules. I have kind of a tongue, mouth rash, but I think it is because my mouth dries out at night. It gets better all day then repeats,,,Mark
Mine have always come in the bottle (for the past 5 weeks) I got a couple mouth sores and started to rinse my mouth 3 times daily with crest pro health and they went away. I have heard the biotene mouthwashes are better...but the crest was all I had at the time. Now I just have bleeding gums..(when I brush mostly) I'd like to say the mouth sores are gone but have learned that any symptom can suddenly reappear on this tx! Every day it's something new. :( I hope you can clear them up..
My riba comes in a bottle. I get 500 per bottle. I have not heard of the packets, but have not had problems with sores in my mouth except for when I had thrash. Hope it works out for you.
