New research facility opening in Central FL area other posts

Hi there.  Just an interesting news story that I heard yesterday for those around Central Florida that might be interested.  Central Florida was selected as a site for a new facility that will be built in conjunction with the University of Central Florida.  They said that this facility will be doing research on heart disease, diabetes AND viral infections, etc., etc.  Naturally, I was forward looking and hoping that this means that they'll eventually be doing studies on Hep C.  Now, this will not be until about 3 years down the road I'd imagine, but that's okay with me.  I don't want to make the long drive to Miami and Orlando is SO much closer for me to drive.  I could drive over and back in the same day with ease.  I'm only about an hour from there.  Also, the University of Central Florida has added a new medical school.  So, I'm hopeful.

The other thing is this post treatment thing is really bothersome.  I'll be SO glad when all this stuff is out of my system, it ain't even funny.

Susan

Hey you! TGIF. Hope your finger is all better or almost better. The "daniel" thread was deleted because it was a fake name and fake story that Chevy created.. but I just wanted to check and make sure that you had posted this.. I copied the post below. I was puzzled because it seemed like it was posted after you normally have left work but maybe you were there late or something! With all the fakery going on I wanted to make sure. Here is the post:

daniel...believe it or not I AM at work LOL. I take a break on the slow seconds and check in as often as I can. I'm hopelessly in love with this forum and just want to help in any way I can (and also share a laugh with friends I've made too! ;)

There is always more to learn!

You know...for me...that is the single most important piece of information to hold on to. Since only 1 of 2 geno 1s really get a cure....that little tiny line means MORE than anything. So often people forget that and they say "well the odds aren't good". Hey like I always say 50/50 to win the 100,000 million dollar lotto would sound like GREAT odds to me - and this is my life, not money.

But...worst case scenario - gaining some good liver function and in effect maybe more YEARS - wow. If THAT was considered the "cure" I would go for it. Without doubt.

Thank you for always remembering to point out such really crucial information.

You are a roc! (well you have rocks in your head)
OH! (couldn't resist hee hee)

LOL I have a feeling they are going to dedicate an entire journal to us!  Cause...I'm no shrinking violet either ;)

I can see it now, HCV Patients have an 85% louder and more vocal ability than the average non-HCV person...in fact this study was skewed by the two that just wouldn't shut up.

hahahaha   That'd be US for sure!  :)

To SJL, if you meant Dr. J., I see him, too!  I know he consults with Dr. Schiff, but I'm not going to be taking any trips to Miami to see Dr. Schiff.  It's too time consuming and too much gas and too long of a drive for me to make.  I'm living on Soc. Sec. Dis. and usually run out of money before my next check, so I try to conserve where I can.  I appreciate your comments though.  I think Dr. J in Lakeland is great.  He was a Godsend, literally.  But, even his office is a 2-1/2 drive for me.  Orlando is only an hour away and with them consulting with Dr. J, then I wouldn't have to drive so far.  That is, when they get up and running over there.  For now, Dr. J has stopped me off of any Interferon/Riba treatments.  I've treated so many times and not responded and he says I have an Interferon/Riba resistance built up and that there's some research that people like me may end up needed up to 4 drugs in the future in order to get clearance.  So, for now, Dr. J is just monitoring me.  He's looking like he'd be retiring soon.  I hope not, but he is that age bracket.  Take care.  Susan

Check my reply to you from "Infergen Torture" thread. I also am seeing a fantastic, well informed Hepatitus C Specialist in Lakeland, if you would like his name. He consults with Dr. Schiff in Miami.

I'll be joining you two in the library.  And I'm known as "the mouth of the south".  Shall we take bets on how long we last?

Well 3 years sounds good to me.  That way, if I don't get the SVR ring - I'll have enough time to move down and we can go together!  Imagine the two of us going in to any study together?  If the doctors heads don't just implode...it would be a miracle LOL hahahaha.

We are two hard stubborn girls who will NOT give up.

(Although even I have to admit...you are made of stronger stuff than even me!)

That's a compliment by the way not an insult!  ;)

Hey Susan, sorry you are having nagging problems in post treatment. I have heard some real horror stories about it from the folks around here. I hope you see some relief soon and you get to feeling much better. I used to spend some summers with cousins in Sebring, FL and I remember Orlando being nothing but groves. Ah the good ole days. The research center will absolutely help the area. Thanks for the information. Dale
