I hope Jodi sees that study, and Susan400, wouldn't it be great if it worked in the US studies also? multi interferons and no major sides!

Just a comment regarding your prior thread indicating an increasing viral load after two weeks of triple therapy for Amanda.

I know that Actimmune (interferon gamma 1-b) had developed a reputation for sending liver enzyme counts very high, when it was used alone or in conjunction with ribavirin in earlier trials.  It also did not seem to lower viral load, when used without other interferons.  Since the LFT's were increased dramatically, MAYBE this also corresponded to an increased viral load.  POSSIBLY this may be what is happening now during the experimental triple tx, along with infergen and ribavirin.  If this is the case, maybe it will prove to be a very short term, sort of a 'flaring' manifestation, and will give way to the opposite effect, and a dramatic drop in viral load.

I hope that Amanda's doctors can regularly monitor her changing viral load,(maybe even weekly or bi-weekly, during this problem period) to get a better handle on where it is going, and whether it is turning in the other direction.  The triple combination is supposed to be highly synergistic, BUT maybe it has a paradoxical or opposite effect early on in the treatment regime.  Let's all hope that this is what is going on.

Please let us all know what transpires as therapy progresses.  We are all in your, and Amanda's, 'corner', and praying for a positive outcome!  Also, as indicated above, take heart in newer treatments on the way for non-responders.  Possible in the upcoming year or two, new medications like multiferon/ omniferon, plus newly created inhibitors of HCV, and non-anemia inducing ribavirin derivitives may go into trials for non-responders, as an experimental 'coctail' therapy, with much greater impact than any previous therapies.

Amanda will overcome this disease one way or the other, with her tremendous will and spirit, and with the rapidly advancing medical approaches, and with the tremendous support and caring from all those around Amanda, including all the members of this forum!
We are with the two of you!
