Non-descriptive hepatitis

Have just been diagnosed with non-descriptive hepatitis after a liver biopsy.  Just what is this form of hepatitis, what does it do to the liver and what are the recommended treatments.

I had a liver biopsy to rule in or out cirrosis.  I have no symptoms other than one livery enzyme out of whack.  Had bad reaction to biopsy, it bled into liver and stomach and was hospitalized for 5 days with severe pain.  Feeling pretty good now, just a little weak.  I guess what I need to do now is make the Dr. explore the type of hepatitis more.

Apparently the different hepatitis viruses -- which don't even belong to the same family -- create distinctive patterns of damage in the liver tissue.  I wonder if the biopsy slides in this case are fully readable?   Anyway, determining the cause of inflammation is definitely the next step.   And so sorry to hear about your biopsy experience.  It's everyone's nightmare come true and you got to be the lucky one.  I hope you'll take it easy and baby yourself in the aftermath.

the word hepatitus just means inflamation of the liver...it does'nt mean viral or nonviral...it's just a discriptive word for liver inflamation...

so to say it's not identified as to the cause that makes sence...they probably checked it for the common liver virus' as part of the biopsy but make sure they did!!! then if not a virus you should explore the other reasons your livercells are dieing...it is crucial to find this out so you can find a way to stop it...

do you drink alchohol? this can be a reason for hepatitus...are you overweight? this can be a reason for hepatitus...you could have NASH...non alchaholic steatosis...this is one of the main causes for hepatitus in the usa...it can cause cirhosis and liver failure too...there also is high iron that can cause liver damage...hemachromatosis...

below is a list of various liver problems that can cause hepatitus make sure you keep after your drs and get answers so you can stop the disease progression...

YOU MAY NEED A GASTROINTEROLOGIST OR HEPATOLOGIST TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS...OUR PRIMARY DRS DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THESE THINGS...

A biopsy (bx) to diagnose hepatitis? Why did you have the bx in the first place? What are your Serology blood test results for HAM, HAG, HBSAG, HBCAB, HBSAB, HCAB (tests for hep A, B, C). There also is hep D & G but I do not know of tests here in the states mainly because they exist in 3rd world countries.
