Now on week 36 of daily infergen/combo and new sides...meanness!

Now on week 36 of daily infergen/combo and he has turned into evilman! I am about to blow my cool.He doesn't have a kind word, full of criticism and neediness UGH!! If I leave him to go anywhere, including work, I am abandoning him, if I sit here with him- he is full of criticism. This is not the first time around with this and my patience is dwindling. At the risk of sounding heartless, I can't take much more. He hardly ever leaves the house, much less the bedroom. If he does make it out to work, its a two day recovery period. The last time he behaved this way his blood counts had significantly dropped. He doesn't see the dr again until the beginning of May. He doesn't want me to call the dr, he is afraid they will do another dose reduction, if indeed his blood counts have fallen. I guess I just needed to vent. I hate this. All of it, the virus, the treatment--- the whole deal.

You are so right, and I am usually one to remember that this is only temporary, sometimes I lose sight. I know that so much of his moods and the roller coaster of emotions are caused by the meds and the situation at hand. He really is a good person, and he is dealing with so much. We are seeing the doc on Wed this week, I'll keep you posted. thanks again, keep hanging in there!!

glad to here that things have gotten a little better...it is good to still see the doc though as you say...desert woman states a very good point...we only do this to ourselves for a relatively short period...just gotta deal with the surprises as they come and stay committed to the end result...trust me, it does get better! Stay tough and keep your Faith! ....mike (looking forward to my 3 mo. post labs & U/S around end of May.... I give thanks for all my blessings and pray for one more....SVR)

Call the doctor anyway. It won't get any better if you don't and chances are it will get much worse. Believe me, it can get MUCH worse. I know first hand what mean looks like.

It is up to you to take control of his medical/mental needs. How many more shots does he have?

My man did 24/24 relapsed and did 48/48, finished last round of tx 12-28-04. He (we) are going to the doctor tomorrow for follow-up. He was clear 3 weeks post tx so this will be a big one for him.

My man feels great and has almost all of his strength back and he is back to his old (not mean) self again.

You can do this. You know how bad it is on you but just put yourself in his shoes. He is in a fight for his life and he needs you to take care of him so suck it up ;>) and get him through this. However you have to do it. If that means calling the doc against his wishes, then call the doc.

It will get better!

Sorry you are having this trouble.  I can relate to you as my husband is on treatment also.  He's also retired and we're together 24/7.  An AD has helped him to an extent, but there are still days when he is agitated.  I feel sorry for him and what the treatment is doing to him when he's in a calm mood, but it gets a little hard to deal with when he is angry.  He is afraid to tell the doctor about his mood swings and a lot of other things that are going on with him and his treatment (rashes, headaches, achiness) because he is afraid the doctor will take him off of treatment.  When he is in a bad mood I try to stay out of his way and this means going for long walks or going somewhere.  I look at it like this, it is one year out of the many years (happy mostly) that we've had together.  It's just one of those things in life we have to deal with.  I do feel for you whoa and hope for the best for you and your sweetie.

New day....Giddy got out of bed after laying in it for a full two days and rose a pleasant fellow. Hallelujah! I know its the meds, the anxiety about clearing, feeling crappy and exhausted and fed up with the whole thing, but I can't tell you how this board has allowed me to vent and remain(well hopefully)sane. I thank each and every one of you. I know you all understand no matter which side of the coin you are on.. if all goes well we only have 14 more weeks, that's about 98 more shots to go!! To those of you who have gone down this road before us-- thank you for your insight and knowledge, and sharing your wisdom. Thank you all again for helping me get through one more day. BTW we will probably have to see the dr earlier than planned anyway, we don't have enough shots until the next scheduled appt. Su

Both of you,,,I know its hard living with someone on tx!  You can never predict what the days will be like.  One minute a burst of energy and feeling ok but in 2 mins,,,,could be sick feeling again and a very nasty disposition!
Whoaisme,,,,I could say just "slap him when he is out of control" LOL  But Giddy probably won't take kindly to that!  And of course I'm just kidding but I know so well how hard it can be and Desert has excellent advice.  Keep yourself busy and out of range when he is in that mood because honestly nothing you can do will make it better so steer clear.  It will be over soon and Giddy will be laughing when you talk about his year on tx!  I hope things get better soon for you and Giddy!

Desert,,,Sounds like things are going as well as can be expected and I'm sure hard at times with him retired and at home.  Hang in there,,,you are doing great!

Sorry you guys are having a hard time.  I just finished week 5 of daily infergen and am starting to notice some of the same behavior in myself.  I don't know what to do if I get a worse attitude than I have now.  I am usually a very easy going nice guy but even co-workers are starting to notice the change.  Your posting will help me find the solutions.  Thanks for venting.  Your venting has alerted me to future problems.  Hang in there.  I will be thinking of you two.

I am sorry to hear that things have not been getting any better for you! I was wondering how giddy and you were doing....last post that I saw things were not going so smooth either..everyone has to find their place in dealing with the meds (I know that there are supplementals that he is taking and I can't speak on those things)...I would strongly recommmend getting ahold of the doctor and explaining the situation (don't wait til the next scheduled app't)You previously said you were fortunate with your doctors (so was I)....also get out and take a break yourself! Sorry, but I can't write much right now...will check back later tonight (may even have my wife write you later....she's been thru alot of this caregiver stuff with me!)...whoa... be strong and keep the Faith......mike  (You're both in my prayers)

I am so sorry to hear this. I know you know from where it comes but it has to be very difficult to deal with. Is he on ad's? If not maybe they would help? Whatever happens, know that we are here to listen and give you encouragement and that sometimes just letting it out can help. Best wishes for both of you.
